  1. It's a while since I aired this topic. Recently we had an identical failure with another Triclops. I had failed to fix the original failed light and have been using it as a source of spares. So I decided to try a process of swapping components off the PCBs from the two lights. I found that the right hand side 2803 ICs on the PCB, when viewed with the writing upright (I'm trying to keep this simple) controlled the LEDs and the left one the mirrors. By a process of elimination I identified 2 fully working 2803s from the 4 I now had to play with and I now have a fully restored working Triclop
  2. I've given up on this, so unless I find some inspiration this unit is going into the spares box!
  3. All DIP switches look as though they are working correctly. None are damaged nor stuck in an intermediate position.
  4. No mains selector switch fitted. Mains cable goes direct into the transformer for the motors (12v output), and via the PCB containing the aforementioned relay to the light transformer (output 24v). There is power coming from the input socket. There is a fuse on each of the 2 PCBs; both are intact. There is no fuse on the input socket. There is 1 LED on the PCB with the relay - it lights up. Apart from that, the only thing that works when the power is switched on is the cooling fan for the bulb.
  5. Hi there Dynamo 250 playing up which looks like power supply problem. The bulb (Osram 24v) will light up then after an interval varying from seconds to minutes will go out. After switching power off it will sometimes light again, but not always. The gobo and mirror motors have also stopped working. I checked output from the two transformers and neither is outputting any power. One common factor as far as I could judge with my limited electronic knowledge looked like it might be a relay (Sanyou SJ-S-112DM) on one of the PCBs which seemed common to both light and motor circuits,

    Qtx Laser

Morning all We have a number of QTX LS01 lasers, which project red and green. A number of them are now projecting only one colour, it could be either red or green, seems random. I've no experience of repairing laser devices and can find nothing on the internet. Can anyone offer any guidance on either repair or relacement of parts? Many thanks.
  7. Many thanks for all your advice and help. I'll make a start on doing what you suggest and see what I can find.
  8. Photo now on Flickr. I replied via ordinary email yesterday but it I assume it didn't reach you.
  9. There are 3 sets of LEDs and mirrors, with motors, on these particular lights. Each cluster of LEDs has a mix of green, red and blue LEDs. All three PCBs are daisy chained together from the 5 way connector on the pictured PCB, the one next to the empty IC socket. These are the only wires going to these PCBs. Would a photo help?
  10. There are 3 ICs on each of the LED board. all numbered SM74HC595N 1271 0919Z. I guess there is one for each of the 3 LED colours. The voltage across pins 9 and 10 reads 20 volts DC.
  11. 1) 16 volts AC across brown wires. 2) 5 volts DC at 1 pin, no voltage on the other. Tried several times because of the difficulty in reaching the farther pin but no joy. 3) Nothing has been removed. So that 8 pin IC carrier must have always been like that. 4) The LEDs are daisy chained, with the 5 pin multiway connector closest to the empty IC socket being the source Does this help pinpoint the probable fault?
  12. I've taken a photo of the component side of the PCB. If you need a photo of the other side I'll need to fully dismantle the light to do so. I haven't done that yet util I had some idea of what might have to be done. I've uploaded to Flickr. If you search under either my username, teeyell, or PCB for LEDs you should find it. It should be the first in my set. Postimage would not let me load an image of suitable size. Thanks again.
  13. Unfortunately I don't. Can you point me in the right direction please. Thanks you.
  14. We've always found the Triclops to be just about our most reliable piece of kit; we have quite a few. But last night for the first time ever one gave up the ghost. The mirrors were moving but there was no light from the LEDs. We swapped it out. This morning in the workshop I observed that there was a glimmer of light from the red LEDs only in what looked as though it could have been the correct sequence for the dip switch settings. I suspect that the transformer may be at fault on the assumption that there are separate taps from the transformer for motors and LEDs. Any thoughts
