Hi there! I just found this forum and am quite excited because from the few posts I've read there seem to be some very helpful people and i already feel like ive found a lot of information. SO anyway...

I am really interested in learning how to dj, specifically with turntables... and im really wondering what kind of turntables and mixers and whatever else i would need just to start. NOt planning on going commercial or anything just wanna learn how to spin smile.gif... I would be planning on spinning mostly hip-hop but also a little bit of everything, scratching might also be nice smile.gif.

thanks in advance for any helpful advice you can offer me, especially if you could recommend some online stores or places to buy in ONtario, Canada. smile.gif

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum 042.gif

You may find help in "Crooksey's Corner". This area of the forum was set up for US / Canada Based Mixing D.J's .

DJ_Crooks is based in Canada, and so he may be a good contact to ask about equipment suppliers.

Enjoy your time here, and we look forward to your posts.

Certainly go for Direct turntables, especially as you intend to scratch etc..Also go for a simple 2 channel mixer with replacable cross fader.

Hello and welcome!! 042.gif

if ya want to get in to hip hop and scratching iwould recomend technics 1210s or vestax's turntables you will need a mixer with a short or adjustible cross fader. which will alow you to cut the song in quicker which makes scratching easyer. there is also a great cd player on the market by denon the dn -s5000 its a amazing bit of kit and it can do everything and more then any vinal turntable. if you want more info just let me know!!

good luck thumbup.gif

Hi and welcome, agree with kray, the 1210s or vestax, prefer 1210s myself but you can mix \play backwards with the vestax, fun! Also 2 channel mixer with replaceable crossfader important.Good luck and have fun laugh.gif
