I m thinking of getting a small star cloth and putting it around my stand. Now at the moment I put my bass bin under my stand .

The questipn is:

Will my base bin still sound the same behind a cloth?

Regards.

No, the star cloth won't affect the sound of the bass bin.

Cloth in front of a normal "Full range" speaker might lose you some treble, and possibly a slight amount of midrange, as these are "airborne" frequencies.

As bass predominantly travels through physical surfaces eg: floor, walls, thigh bones etc, then having the bass unit concealed behind a cloth shouldnt affect it.

If the bass unit is ported (air holes), then its worth making sure that the cloth is a few inches away from the ports. This will ensure that airflow isnt restricted in entering/leaving the cab, and also means that your cloth wont visibly be blown/moved by the expelled air from the ports. If you're using 50~70 weight black wool serge for the star cloth, this shouldnt be an issue though.

I put my full rang cabs inside the starcloth booth once, the bass was fine, the treble had to go up all the way. Thankfully, it was just for background, so we moved the cabs out for the main event.
