Those of you without amnesia (did I already start a post with this opening? I cant remember wacko.gif ) will no doubt remember the series of DJU Member Polls which ended around September - where each of you were asked to vote for the most playable No.1 from each and every year, since 1960 right up to 2004.

Well, I've had chance now to compile your votes and we've now got a shortlist for each decade; a list of DJU members most voted for track for each year.

The poll for the best DJU favourite No.1 of the sixties short list is getting plenty of votes already, so, now its time for you to vote for the absolute DJU favourite No.1 of each decade - starting with all the DJU voted No.1s' from the 1970's

Which of the DJU favourites above, would you be most likely to play?

I feel love.
Just to be different, and I like it.
This pretty much marked the point at which Gorgio started to change the dance music scene forever.
Paul Smith
There's several good plays in that list but I went for Barry White smile.gif

To enter into the spirit of the question exactly as it is asked I picked Abba.

Although I thought the 60s list was excellent and very reflective of what I might play when faced with some person reassuring me "the 60s are coming back", the 70s list is not very reflective of what I would play.

Tina Charles - "I Love To Love"
Gloria Gaynor - Various Tracks
Thelma Houston - Various Tracks
Amii Stewart - Knock On Wood
Village People - In The Navy
Village People - Go West

are all tracks that rarely fail for me. They are also more reflective of what discos are about for most people.

There are many fantastic tracks that are more difficult to play, like Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" or Machine's "There But For The Grace Of God", you would need the right crowd for them.

I am not sure how many of these tracks went to number one though.

It's a fun question I guess, but it shouldn't be taken as a guide of what to play. smile.gif

All of the options in the poll went to No.1 and were the "most playable" No.1 of there respective years as voted for by DJU members.

True there were some super tracks that got held at bay at No.2, or no.3 or number 38 etc...and its fair to say that some No.1 tunes are impossible to dance to - and useless on a dancefloor. Such undancable tunes have been weddled out by the previous set of DJU member polls. biggrin.gif
