Good Morning
I have just had a wedding confirmed for next March and the hotel has sent through a list of guidlines for me which they need and are the normal PAT Certificate, Public Liability etc.. But the one I am confused about is, they have asked for a Electrical Safety Certificate aswell. Does anyone know what this is and why I need it?

I'd ask them if they meant PAT.

Because they don't know what they are talking about....so how the hell can they 'check' you out when they don't have a clue themselves?
Guess I'm in a bad mood today!

Mind you .... well done to the venue for actually asking to see PLI/PAT in the first place, especially checking this far in advance - enough time for them to tell the hirers that their chosen disco needs to get PLI/PAT prior to the date.

The electrical safety certificate, is also called a periodic inspection certificate and is only done for "a client/mortgage company etc request" on behalf of an electrical installation, house, factory, shop, etc etc etc.
Like if your selling your home and the prospective buyer wants a periodic inspection/ or their mortgage company wants it
Beware...... HOME BUYERS PACK coming soon in 2006 i believe means you will all have to get your own tests done on all installations (without a certificate of completion) in your home , plumming, elec, windows, gas, building work, etc etc if you want to sell your home .....mmmmmm im gunna be busy!!
Non producers will not be sold or the risk of dropping the asking price well downwards! What will they think of next??

Remind the Venue that as an outside contractor working on their premises you need to see their Certificate of Electrical Compliance. That will make them cry as they have a LEGAL duty to provide this to you. Period. They commit a criminal offence if they do not do it. Its probably at their registered office.
I have never met a manager of a venue who has a clue about this important piece of legislation.
