Hi all,

I know there is a thread on here which is amassing some information on sound limiters which I have added information too.

But in some cases I also want to talk about the other information that may be relevant for DJing as well so for every venue that I attend, I will be adding some room information on this on going list.

Maybe it might interesting to you guys as well.

e.g as I'm booking gigs for next year, it gives me an idea and my future customers of how their room will look when we setup. It has already saved me from making a couple of repeat visits.

As I hate US (DJ's) being treated in an unprofessional manner when visiting venues when they (venue) sometimes may look down on you. I was also thinking of adding information about attitudes of the venue BUT shoud I and could I get into trouble for doing that? 533.gif

Just wanted to say that you've got a good looking site going on there!

I like the venues page - demonstrates that you care about the detail (without just saying "we care about the detail"). Should also help on search engine results (if someone books a venue and then looks for a DJ, you've got some chance of being returned in the results).

Personally, I wouldn't put stuff down about the attitude of the venue. It would make you look less professional (and possibly bitter). Suppose, again, that someone has booked a hotel and is now looking for a DJ. They find your site - see your photo on the testimonials page and think you look like the kind of fun guys they need - then they find your venues page with a comment about the venue they've booked which effectively says that you find it difficult to work with this venue. That may well put them off booking you (since they will think it is easier to find another DJ than to find another venue).

Nice Idea in the making there.

My only (very) slight concerns is that clients occasionally ask "We're having our function at The.............. , Do you know it? have you played there before?" - its possible that they might get disappointed/concerned at not finding their venue listed already. Also you might want to add a short footnote about "not to scale" that way, no-one(?) will be tempted to use your representation of the venues function room as a guide for their table layouts, band arrangements, etc. Also consider adding a date - (EG: plan accurate as of 1/1/2005) - that way, if the venue add a corner bar, move the dancefloor, add fire exits etc,etc...then, at least you're covered.

Psssst. The Inn on the Green details is missing its "Smoke Machine" comment. eg: Yes/No.

Great Feedback and I'll make those changes in forthcoming plans!

Hello Mate

What it is that you display on the projector/screen? I notice it in you diagrams and does it take much room up???

I do like the idea of clients knowing there venue size etc.. Good Idea. thumbup.gif

Hello FrankieJ

The projector screen I use is an 8ft screen. It does take up some room and the projector needs to be placed ideally 8/9ft in front directly in the middle to prevent keystoning from occuring. I use a Small Digital LCD sony display unit. In cases where this has not worked. I've had to bring in plasmas. This is why previsiting the venue is important so you can judge whether or not the projector would be the route to go.
