I`ve currently got a pair of Mackie srm450 powered speakers which are excellent but my disco requires more bass. I was thinking of adding either a pair of mackie 1501 subs or a single 1801 sub. Any idea which would be best or are there any other good powered subs that would make a good match to my mackies ?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi
I've also got SRM450's, and if I were going for subs, i'd going for mackie's. Whether yo go for one or two depends partially on how much space you've got and how strong your back is. Something that sounds very nice might not be very practical to lift, especially if you're working on your own. Loud speekers with booming base will never replace a tallented DJ who plays all the right music. No good having 2k of thwacking booming noise, if the rest of the show is lacking. Unless you're playing to rooms of 500 plus, stick with what you have, the punters don't really know the difference. I've been using mackies now for gigs of 200 and haven't even pushed them hard and they sound bloody great!

I do agree the srm450`s sound great , however as the volume increases the sliding filter ( built in to stop the cabinets falling apart) cuts the bass down. I`m not looking for booming bass but I don`t what to lose it when the volume is up.
Just keep the quality at a higher volume as needed in some venues
