Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can give me any reports on how good this system is:

Thanks

I have the Lucas 1000 system and if I could upgrade I would - to the Lucas 2000.

Quality Solid state system and perfectly adequate for most venues. If you find a UK supplier that does em at decent prices, let me know so I can consider some kind of trade in.

How do they sound?

What is the bass bin like weight wise?

Very portable and smart. The bass is good but I do worry that sometimes, although I do setup beside it I can hear the thumps but I do worry that my crowd won't hear it as I intended them- it does depend on the room size though.

Having a system like this ensure that everything is kept in check. The amp works with the speakers really well, the built in crossover allows you to control how much bass and gain you might want. The system has a safety feature which detects to much power and might shutdown but that would never bethe case as the internal amp is desigend to work with the whole system really well.

Portability is excellent, it's effectively a cube shape with the speakers on top of the unit - about 50x50. I do advise though that you buy all the covers which is ideal when storing them. The unit weighs about <50kg.

This is a really nice system made by one of my favourite manufacturers. It is an absolutely ideal for audiances of upto 150.

Good choice.

I have two of the ELIAS systems and an ACTOR system and I am always really pleased with the overall performance and reliablity. I think they have a "Big Hi-Fi" sound.

Yes Kingy has summed up the HK active stuff, just like a big giant loud HIFI! (The best quality type!!).

Few manufacturers get close to hifi sound at such high pressure levels, people like Martin Audio, OHM to name but two, but many other makes tend to colour the sound a little (eg Bose sounds warm, RCF sounds shrill.. etc) but HK, being a musical instrument company (Hughes & Kettner GmbH) pay loads of attention to the actual Quality of Sound.

Get yourself up to the HK Audio UK listening room at importers John Hornby Skewes & Co. of Leeds if you're up there any time.

No I dont own any HK but I've had many a listening test (both indoor/outdoor events) and have repaired Actor and LUCAS systems and I can say they're well put together. (parts are reasonable too..) and as Kingy will no doubt tell you, the active clip limiters are smooth and effective.

Oh and I think HK have the active systems wrapped-up. They are by far the most reliable. (JBL EON arent bad, the others, well I darent say)

Use an ELIAS, very pleased with it

Had a LUCAS breifly, you can tell they're from the same manufacturer 'family soundwise and the hi-fi comaprision is a god 'un. I did notice that the tops got a bit rough sounding when driven hard on the LUCAS though.

The LUCAS 2000 looks like a different beast though and I may well have gone for it, if it was available when I got the ELIAS.
