THIS IS A WARNING FROM MANY FIREWALL COMPANIES, INCLUDING ZONE-ALARM, NORTON, MCAFEE, AND OTHER INTERNET SECRURITY COMPANIES/CONSULTANTS.

Dear Valued ZoneAlarm Customer,

You may have heard about the "Defacers Challenge" taking place this
upcoming weekend. The U.S. government and several technology experts
have warned that an organized contest among hackers has been planned
for Sunday. The objective of the contest is to deface company Web
sites.

While the attack is not aimed at individuals, hackers often use
individual's computers to launch these types of attacks. And although
this does not represent an extreme threat, it's an important reminder
that even though we may be relaxing in the sun, hackers are still
hard at work.

To ensure that you are fully protected, we wanted to remind you to
check your version of ZoneAlarm and make sure you are running the
most recent version.

Our entire line of consumer firewall products has been updated over
the past three weeks. If you have not updated your product yet, we
recommend you do so now.

You can access the latest version by clicking on the link below:

To maximize your protection, we also recommend checking your
anti-virus software to make sure you are running the most recent
version.

You can find out more about the "Defacers Challenge" story at:

One last thing...if you plan to be out of town over the weekend, the
best security is to turn off your PC.

Have a safe and relaxing weekend!

Zone Labs

I think its more a case of websites / forums being attacked rather than individual users. Our host has assured me that they are secure and that certain extensions will be switched off, so you may find that images or links don't work correctly during the time that the attack will be taking place.

I think that any disruption will be caused to high profile sites, like the recent attacks on the R.I.A.A website, although I will be taking hourly backups of this forums database.

Should we be unfortunate enough to be targeted, then I will switch to the mirror site, whilst we back up the original and repair any damage. Please also ensure that you are using the main website address:- www.djsunited.co.uk to access the forum, since this is used to switch between main & mirror sites.

To keep the risk to a minimum, if you use the "remember me" function to sign in, then please ensure that you "log off" properly when you leave the forum on Sunday, to avoid any malicious use of cookie data passwords. This will only apply during Sunday.

Hi folks

It might be worth mentioning here that I received a couple of emails yesterday, both had attachments and the contents were identicle.

both were confirming playlist of songs for a wedding. Anyone who has lots of bookings might be forgiven for opening the attachments as it seems to be from a customer.

Don't do it!.

This is worrying stuff, getting targetted viruses, god what next?

Another good reason NOT to use your main ISP's Email addresses when adding your entry to the online D.J / Wedding directories nono.gif

And of course keeping an up to date virus scanner on your P.C
