Hi again guys

As you may know I have tended to do mostly kids parties and have not really had much oppurtunity to many later gigs.

Anyway, I was wondering do you guys charge a set amount until midnight and then xx amount per hour after midnight.

If you charge by the hour what would you say is a fair price?

Cheers

I usually quote from £50 per hour outside agreed times, not ncessarily midnight.

Depends on the gig really. here in the south west it can be anything from £150 - £175 for a 7-12.00 gig, or if its an all day wedding over the £200 mark.

If I have to work past my finish times I would charge the client £30 per hour.
FDDJ
I charge an extra £40 per 1/2 hour (or part thereof) after Midnight (unsociable hours and all that), and £25 per 1/2 hour (or part thereof) for extra hours before Midnight.
DJF
normally charge £30 per hour till 12 or 1 then its £40 per hour after or part of the hour
spinner
I charge £55 per extra hour before midnight and £75 thereafter.

30 English pounds before 12 and 30 English pounds after 12...

Ive never priced by the hour...either quoting for jobs or on the night by charging for "over time"

The way I price is to quote the full job to the venue latest time - 01:00 (this is my residency so i guess it wouldnt be easy for djs playing different venues with different licences to always do this...especially those 2am finishes!!!)

The wording on my contract is ".........until 01:00 latest"...giving you the option to chat with the bride and groom and bring the finish forward a little if they request it..but you still get your FULL FEE.

I quote for my services, not an hourly rate, if it finishes at 1am, or 11pm the price is roughly the same.
C.S
I quote for the full evening and here thats until 3 a m after that £100 an hour
Dukesy
I'd quote the booked package hourly rate.
Based on a discount fee (actual venue discount) of £370 disco fee, the 'hourly rate' over 5 hours would be £74.
Or, if a client booked a 5 hour function for £500 disco fee, the hourly rate would be £100.

Thus, a £240 booking for 3 hours would work out at £80.

£25 per hour or part hour beyond the quoted finish time (whatever that finish time happens to be). I allow an extra few tracks over the finish time for free, if it's been a good gig, because after all we are in the service industry and therefore rely on customer satisfaction and word of mouth in order to build our success and increase our business smile.gif . Anything beyond 15 mins or so though will attract a £25 fee because fair is fair and this is pointed out to the client on the booking confirmation, and when we start playing beyond the original finish time. Mosr customers are more than happy to play 2 or 3 more tracks for free and call it a night. I've never had anybody quibble or dispute this meet-me-halfway attitude although before we even play one additional track over the finish time we always clear it with the management first

Many many years ago, when I was 18, I used to play a regular venue for about £40. On one occasion when I finished at midnight as agreed, it was suggested that if the management agreed to continue for another hour, the client would pass a hat around as extra payment for me. I continued, the hat was duly passed around, when I finished, I counted an extra £60 cool.gif

Shall we do yet another hour then?

Did the tax man know that Brian ?
