Hi, I am wondering if anyone on DJU has ever had a Pioneer CDJ1000 apart?

HOLLER!!! toot.gif smile.gif
Gary
You've not lost another cufflink in your CD-deck have you Brian? rolleyes.gif
brianmole
No, I think I've hit the play button too hard over the 3+ years (about 200 discos) that I've used it. It no longer 'depresses' and is now touch sensitive. So, I'm getting my ESD kit whistling.gif , and I'm going to take it apart tonight to see what the damage is. fear.gif hide.gif

If you can't fix it bring it in to work and Jon will take a look for you. He also know where to order replacement parts from.

If you are going to continue using them it may well be worth sending them off for a service.

censored2.gif It's the actual play switch which is FUBAR signdammit.gif

On this picture, it's the little black switch on the right hand side.

Havent tried to install the double dimmer switch yet...need the spare time during DAYLIGHT to wire it in.

I think I've sussed out the wiring code though, (after PMing you for advice)....

RED to GREEN

GREEN to BLUE

BLUE to BITS...

That should work...

Anyway, Brian...whilst you were delving around inside your CDJ did you find it easy to remove the £200 bar of gold (Its included in Pio's pricing for the unit, so it must be in there somewhere...) biggrin.gif

Well, I am suprised it is well layed out inside, the device has been well designed from a maintenance point of view, the components look like they are of good quality, and there was not much dust ingress considering the 3 1/2 years mine have been on the road.

Tell me Gary, don't you find that premium products like the CDJ-1000 (£700ish) and the DN-S5000 (£650ish) both have this bar of invisible gold within them? You must admit, they are quite a long way ahead of the competition in terms of their feel as well as their features which obviously commands the premium prices.

However, I would argue that the Technics SLDZ1200 (£600ish) is functionally challenged although being quite pretty to look at, so that would IMHO contain a £600 gold bar inside. Shame, considering how good the SL1200 series was/is. Phew, good job I'm not saying this on the dmcee forumthing laugh.gif

By the way, I don't mind paying these prices for the Pio and DN stuff, I love my Pio's, I also really like the recent output from Denon, and I don't mind paying those prices for them either. Quality pays for itself many times over.

Ooh, whats this hook doing in my mouth...? biggrin.gif Reel me in.

I'll meet you halfway on your statement above Brian. Whilst its fair to say that a whole chunk of gold has obviously gone into research & development of both the CDJ-1000 and the DN-S5000. However, there are more golden features which are user accessable the 5000...

This doesnt make one better than the other - as "Best" is all down to the users needs, rather than any other users needs.

PS: Whilst you've got your CDJ open...protect the Daisy Display (in the centre of the platter) at all costs...This custom display is £80 for a spare, and £20 for the circular bit of glass which sits above it. (Handy hint # 133)

Seme Nedis is your place for spares. I've found the (previously poor) service has improved a bit now.

If the switch itself is marked with a part number on the board try ringing them up for a replacement, the soldering is easily done and might be cheaper. Saying that £15 sounds VERY cheap for the whole board so i'd be inclined to go for that if the price is right....

I had a jog wheel pot go on one of my CDJ100's recently and that was £12 delivered which i thought was good.

However it s still beyond me why the last quote for a single knob for my DJM600 was over £13 delivered!!!

You won't get any support from Pioneer. Spare parts are available from SEME-NEDIS Limited in Melton Mowbray. Pioneer will probably supply you with the part number but you need to ring these folks.

The switches are conductive rubber internally for that technics-SL1210 type feel, they're similar to the ones used in the CDJ500 etc etc.

They are a couple of quid, email me if you want me to order any.
