Hi all, just got back from setting up the gear only for tomorrow night's wedding in a posh hotel near Horsham. Takes a bit of pressure off tomorrow. PARTYCHRIS did this room last week BTW.

It's a great d/f, the constella pro twins really show up nicely on it.

Why set up there then ?
Looking quickly I would have probably set up going across the corner, on the LH of the dancefloor as the second photos shows it.
Not that I am always correct.
Just 99% of the time.

There was no gap between the d/f and the walls, and I like to setup centrally most of the time. I also have a Delboy tribute act coming in to do cabaret during the meal etc..., so we need to 'point' speakers to the audience.

How come you don't raise the tbars so there 'even'? and the speakers on the floor, Have been designed for best positioning on the floor?
I must say the right tbar looks incredibly neat, leads etc wise!
Very smart setup you have there Brian, in what looks to be a very smart place! Do you use the pioneer cdj 1000s for these kinds of jobs?
Cheers

And if the photos are correct you have be on the floor above the room some people are going to be eating in, so not too much bass

I always put speakers on the floor, sounds better. As the speakers are 500W RMS each, there is plenty of headroom. On rare occasions I will put them up on stands, but this is only if I feel I have not enough power for too many guests. Usually, these will cover 120 guests with no problems, for more guests, I add 2 or 4 identical speakers, and also I can add two big folded bass bins.
Parcans are cheap (£15 = lamp £12), I run them off a cc4 controller which is dimmable. This ensures no sharp changes in lighting that PSE sufferers cannot bear. The other stand holds 2 x Constella ProTwin 250W dual flowers (these only cost £59 new now), and 2 x Acme Dynamos which were about £80 each. The black front under the deck is actually a custom made LED starcloth type box with blue, white, red and green leds.
The tbars are at the right height so I can press the switches on the Constellas! Also, they are at a safe height, and I can wind them up a bit more if I want to.
The one thing the picture illustrates is how the bacground could be improved. I don't like the picture of the silly cow and the part curtain behind me, I think I need one of those Prolight Starcloth backdrop things. Whadda ya rekon?
I always use my 2 x Pioneer CDJ1000 cd turntables and DJM600 mixer for any gig. The table on the side with the white tablecloth is there for my CD wallets. Under the table, the mains cables from the wall to the equipment run unseen.
Kit list:
Flightcase containing:
2 x Pioneer CDJ1000
1 x Pioneer DJM600
Behringer EQ
Numark Dimension 4 amp
2 x McGregor PS15/500 full range 15" cabs
2 x Constella Pro Twin 250W flower
2 x Acme Dynamo scanners
4 x Par56 300W
Showtec CC4 controller
Prolight wind up stand for effects
Smartsound direct light stand for parcans
Takes about 45 minutes to set up.

Looks good Brian and I know the sound is good having borrowed a couple of your speakers.
Only thing I would say is I always use black gaffer to secure leads, is that electrical tape you have used or those resealable cable ties? Black is best!
If you had 2 more lights the same shape as your centre lights, I wonder if you could then secure your par cans above the lights on the same T Bar?
Just a thought.

I only use gaffa tape to secure leads if they are exposed and constitute a hazard. In this case, no exposed leads
There are 4 black velcro ties on the top t-bar holding the lighting effects, and you can see 2 dayglo green ones on the tripod. On the par56 tripod, again there is a black velcro tie holding a standmate in place (where all 4 parcan cables connect), and 2 red ones holding the cable in the tripod. I kind of like the idea that these are visible to the general public in a funny way, discreetly shows that I have secured the cables.
I prefer to spead the lights over two stands, if I need more lighting, I use a goalpost.

Ditto. I only use stands very rarely, like this weekend where I want the sound at roughly the same level throughout the room.

I wouldn't if it was me. I think it would make your rig stand out more, wheras at the moment it is nice and discrete.

The picture shows up a problem that I can't overcome either, how the hell do you "hide" the table that has the CD boxes on it.
Nice clean tidy show - and a table full of boxes.
I think an S&H star cloth surround might be the only answer.

I use a black cloth to cover the table (as opposed to a white one) with black CD boxes it was about the best i could come up with

No, it's a hotel owned by a golf club I think.

Yes Mikeee, that is a real pain. I normally use some gray speaker carpet which I ordered by mistake, but the hotel had already covered the table for me.
