I've a gig coming up where the client has specified a liking of old songs that have been re-done in a funky house way - the first example that comes to mind if Eric Prydz - Call on Me.

Other tunes off the top of my head:
Max Graham - Owner of a Lonely Heart
Cabin Crew - Star to Fall

Possibly even stuff like Girls Aloud - Jump too.

Can you help me add some more please?
C.S
Velvet - Electric avenue
Alcazar - world we live in (land of confusion)

There's a great remake of De'Llacy - Hideaway on a Slip ' n slide promo at the moment, the Pete Gooding mix absolutely rocks! You can get a 12"

Another useable one although quite cheesy is wings - silly love songs which is on Whit disc a few issues ago

An there's Silsonic - Something to make you feel alright (Lowered) which is awesome and was around in April
Dukesy
I agree with Eskie.

The 'line' between funky house and pop remix is thin but not to difficult to tell the difference.

I would add Black Legend from a few years back over that of Girls Aloud.
But if the client doesn't mind funky pop / remix's then great...add Steps to the list! biggrin.gif
BigBen
The client is a 40 year old Kylie fan - it's basically Kylie all night so a bit of funky pop would probably be OK. The husband is a fan of 70's punk...so I'm happy.

Oh, me and her two teenage sons are forming a Green Day tribute act for one performance only too!
partychris
i have quite a few old tunes that have been revamped into funky house tunes,
George benson - give me the night
madonna - like a prayer
?? - old piano

and a few more but cant remember at the moment !
Dukesy
Diana Ross?

a 40 year old's definition of funky is different to the clubbing generation's definition.
neeeee...
jeffwall
On my list above i just put anythin thats been re vamped in the funcky/club scene
BigBen
I spoke to the client last night and she clarified her statement as "...re-released dance track versions of 80's stuff..."

That should open the flood gates...!

Milk & Sugar vs. John Paul Young - Love Is In The Air

Everywhere I look around....

I shall be singing that to myself all day now Mr Mole.

Like the binary signature by the way!

Have you got this tune BTW? I play it a lot, all ages dance to it.
Steve_Mitchell
Rytham fatel--Man in the mirror

Vinylshakers--Club Tropicana

I love funky house mixes of old tracks, and have loads of them (including many of them above). I've been buying several a month on vinyl for the past few years, and have some great stuff.

Some I find I play for a few months and then move on, and others (like Milk & Sugars "Love Is In The Air") I still play regularly after a few years because they always get a great reaction from all age groups.

And that's the advantage of the best of these remixes. They are similar enough to the original, that the older people like them, but have the current sound that appeals to the younger crowd (unless they are R&B/Hip-Hop heads).

My most played recent one is Grant Nelsons remix of Sister Sledge's "Thinking Of You". Pure class, and works with all age groups. thumbup.gif

Barry manilow-- cococabanna remix

That sounds interesting Jeff. Was it an official release on a CD? (Can you tell me which one?) Or some dodgy bootleg white label remix?

Cococabanna barry manilow remix was off the music and passion album but just played it to see if any good, slow start, but ok in the end, background music i think biggrin.gif
