Ok, we've got our dreams, and several topics/threads about what we would buy to improve our shows if our wallets and purses were bulging (or should that be Bulgin?) at the seams...So heres the twist(er) with this thread.

You've got £20...what would you buy with that, which would improve your show....virtually all lighting and sound gear is "out the window" (but not "all" of course).

Here's some idea's to get this going....

*) Tidy up those unsightly dangly wires on/from overhead lighting rigs with double sided velcro.... its about £1 per metre, which cuts into 5 or 6 useful lengths...simply wrap it around the pole, stand, etc to hold the cables flush against the pole, takes seconds to attach and remove, and doesnt make the cables sticky like some tapes can. Available from most fabric shops...be sure to get the stuff with "hooks" one side and "eyes" the other, so it sticks to itself.

*) Hide the back of your decks, mixer, amps, pint etc... with a front cloth....it can be a table cloth, a simply white sheet...there are also some great finishes with "musical notes", "stars", "sequins" etc... simply fix to the front of your show, or across a pole/rod between your speakers, and instantly add some extra neat'n'tidy professionalism to your on-stage presentation.

*) An electric fan - You've worked 'em up to fever pitch, the dance floor is heaving with hot bodies, and even the walls are sweating...and theres you slaving over a hot mixer, an even hotter amp stack, and under enough sweltering par cans to make the spaceship from Close Encounters look like a "power on" LED. Cool it! have a fan by you feet pointing upwards - keeps the blow dry fringe looking tidy too!

*) A Microphone/headphone holder. How many times have your headphones done a lemming impression off the front of your mixer/record box/CD case, or whereever else you balance them when not in use...(or do you just leave them round your neck forgetting all about them until you make a move to the bar and remember about them at the same time as taking on that "Strangled chicken look"... Ultimax do a cheap'n'cheerful holder for either a mic or headphones (two types), which attaches to most square tubed stands, for about £8 each.

*) A CD cleaner disc - If you use CD's - you know this makes sense.

I've got a few more idea's but these should jog you into the spirit of things...

Cheezy
I you use CD cases, how many are damaged? You've planned to go through them and replace them but never had the time???

Tin of paint to make your gear look fresh?

Replace those bent speaker grilles?

New headphone pads? Are they frayed? Ever wondered what must be living in them????? sad.gif
