Personally, I'm a big fan of "I like the way you move" - have been ever since I heard Pete Tong playing it last year. However, last night I was driving through an area with bad radio reception and had to tune away from BBC 5 live. Scanning the FM channels I picked up a local station playing their new single "Round and Round". Cynical doesn't BEGIN to describe this offering - it's the SAME SONG with different lyrics. It wouldn't even be worthwhile putting together a mashup of the 2 songs as all it would require would be to start them both at the same time.
Talk about finding a formula and sticking to it LOL.
If this one sells I really fear for the mental state of the people that buy it - I'd save the money and put the first song on and sing the second one over the top of it ;)
Cheers,
Jack.

I like the way you move was excellent. This latest offering is a crock of

IMHO.
Never mind..... plenty more good stuff coming out

As you say: Find a formula, and stick with it.
Its a shame really, afterall its bad enough (most of the time) when an old song gets covered (sometimes for the better, but usually detrimental) by a different group, but when one artist/group etc does this to their own material it does make you start to wonder if we've simply run out of original musical note combinations.
In a similar vein, I find alot of Nicklebacks tunes are very samey, as are Oasis's offerings at times.
But then, is it simply history repeating itself akin to comments about Status Quo only knowing three different guitar chords, or any 80's tune from the Stock Aitken and Waterman, regardless of artist being "the next one off the conveyor belt".
Even certain producers/remixers seem to fall into the same "trap" sometimes.

I agree with your points about PWL and the Quo Gary, but this is taking it to a different level - they are using the same chords, in the same sequence, for the same duration. I know the PWL stuff and much of the Quo's output is "samey", but at least they changed the structures of the songs a little.
And sure, there have been cases of plagiarism in the past, but to bring out a single that is essentially the same song as your last single really is taking the p@#s.
Cheers,
Jack.

I take it you didn't see the interview with Rick when the interviewer said that Quo were a 3 chord band. He replied "Are they playing 3, I'm only playing 2"
And I think Pete Waterman has still got that backing tape.

Been playing this for a while, they are are sampling ZZ Top's Sharp Dressed Man I've been using it as a link track between Dance and Rock, just mixing in ZZ Top at the breakdown... I've found its a bit of a slow burner but its catching on. went down well at a recent biker gig though.
