For the last few days there are two classic old tunes that I can't stop playing in the car/at home and to me both contain that timeless quality that some tunes seem to possess yet most others from the same period sound dated.
One is a soul tune and one an early 90's house track.
The soul tune is probably gonna be unknown to the majority on here but is definitely one worth checking out if you get the opportunity, from an unbelievably under-rated group. Chocolate Milk - How About Love notworthy.gif
Chocolate Milk have done a few superb tunes and this one is just such a top top tune, almost melts your heart listening to the superb vocals. I'm not sure if it was ever released as a single. It was on an album from 1976 simply called Chocolate Milk.

The other one I can't stop playing at the mo' is Urban Soul-Alright which is from 1991 which many more people will be familiar with. It's one of those tunes that I just loved from the very first time I heard it, the disappointing thing is that it isn't more well known. I rarely play this at gigs but perhaps should take a chance on it a bit more cos it's pure quality thumbup.gif

I don't know either of those, but will try and find them out of interest. I use the warmup section of my gigs to play stuff like this. Last weekend, I played Roy Ayers - Everybody loves the sunshine which was recently covered live by Jamie Cullum notworthy.gif and Donald Byrd - Love has come around. Two people came up to me to ask what I had just played.

Yep, they're both great tunes.
Bri', do you know a tune called Give Me The Sunshine by Leo's Sunshipp similar feel to the Roy Ayers tune. Fantastic bass line and such a great summery feel.

Surprised you don't know the Urban Soul track. I'd guess that you probably have heard it but don't recognise the name. It has a sort of early funky house feel to it. Similar to some of the 80's US garage made by artists like Serious Intention (Paul Simpson)

You are probably right. I have a memory like a fish for song names. sterb188.gif
