Wondered if anyone could tell me the best Hip Hop songs to play, as am increasingly being asked by the younger generation and being a child of 70's music need a bit of help...

mmm I take it you are after commerical hip hop.... considering its for younger kids and there verison of hip hop is distorted.

Please note there is a fine line between RnB and Hip Hop so be sure of what your client wants, ask for a couple of artists they want, as you might get someone wanting HIP Hop which in their eyes is AKON, Gorillaz etc.

I'd always thought that "hip hop" was the term used to describe a particular urban culture, but a term which has more recently been used musically as a generic name for grouping together R'n'B, rapping, MC'ing and even scratching/turntablism, as well as the older breakdancing tunes eg: Olly & Jerry (No, they didn't go on to make dozens of different flavoured ice creams).

Certainly the suggestions already made above should keep the average pre-adult happy for a while - as would many other artists who can "sing angry", swear and look stroppy for the camera. kid.gif
