Had no work last 014.gif night so got a sitter for the kids and we went to one of the local pubs that was open till midnite.

We didnt get there till 10 ish and there was a disco wacko.gif as we got out of the cab all you could hear was this distorted din comin out of the pub we went in and the sound was awfull 533.gif

First things first a beer (mmm beer)

I dont no who the dj was never seen him before and i dont like to call fellow djs but i think he's lost the plot.

His amp n mixer must have been on overkill and its was obvious the word clippin was one he dosent know it was just pure distortion it sounded like it was gonna blow any second.

Anyway had a casual glance at his gear?

Two/three home cd players on a table, mixer was hidden behind a big pile of cd's,amp on a stool couldnt see the make, two 3 way speakers one cab bigger than the other altho both had 15 inch drivers one had a skyteck in and it looked new wonder why! 2 light boxes on a only chasin on 2 chanels the others were on constantly, a t bar with 2 par cans doin a flip flop,cd's not in cases being shuffeled like cards no wonder they jumped .

Anyway we stayed only as the bar was open till midnite,a few of the local p*** heads were dancin. Well last orders came and went then the last bell then the dj anounced last orders at the bar (time 12.05) the bar staff were shoutin to him bar's closed in the end he herd them and said oh the bars closed!

What a pro whistling.gif

I think my point is we all strive for quaility and service and this guys lettin us down

Sorry mate if its you But try and sort the sound out

offtopic.gif Got a pic on pc how do i put it on here?

Bars, banqueting managers and other venues generally go for the cheapest priced service that works. Bar was full....half the punters don't listen to the DJ anyway, so what's the surprise?

It's reality, unforunately. The guy was making a few quid and every industry has different segments of service. C'est la vie.

That looks like a pretty cool DJ booth, but not as very good setup. Those speakers are tiny, they con't have much output surely?

The dj was in the raised seating area as for the sound it was so distorted it hurt 533.gif

We went in the same place for dinner last night and they had loads of complaints, most of the regulars left before 9

Anyway by all accounts the bar only took half of a normal saturday nights takeings and they complaining to the agent as they pay the agent not the dj.

I always find myself inspecting other DJ's or Venues equipment. When I go in a nightclub I'm sad and cant rest until I know the brand name of the speakers lol. Sometimes I can guess by the sound quality!
But if going to someones party and theres a DJ, i sit saying to my mum, I do this...... and he doesnt lol
Think I need to get out more often lol

Its people like the Cowboy thats in the picture that gives us DJ's a bad name. I bet that the speakers would be powered by a home hi fi too! When I went to our Xmas works do last year, the DJ had 2 Hi Fi seperate CD players and a cheap Maplin old fashioned mixer (the one that took a 9v battery) all built into a MDF Box. And a JVC home hi fi amp powered at 2 x 100watts. I wouldnt dream of even using such little power even as monitors! Each speaker cab he had a different cone in it. One was a Synergy one and the other "power" was printed on it. SOunded awful and everyone talking was louder than the music lol

042.gif Update

Hi all it turns out it was the guys 1st booking from the agent and last.

The agent apolagised and didnt charge for the booking £175

As Nrgise said it gives the mobiles a bad name fear.gif
Dukesy
Please note - The DJ was not an idiot!!!
£175?

The equalivent equipment hire = 'X' amount??? huh.gif
Have a guess? £20? £30? £50? More? Less?
You decide! biggrin.gif

I guess that the agent will now vet the DJs supplied. smile.gif
It's said that supply and demand dictait our trade....LOL! laugh.gif

The £175 for the gig is what the agent charges of that the dj gets £150

The dj in question was given a chance by the agent to prove himself hes good like that and it normally works.

I have worked for the agent many times and he realy is a nice bloke

Anyway lets have a new post about sound
