Hi,

I use this and was wondering two things....

1. Is it worth me getting PCDJ FX??

2. Is it against the law to use this on the road? I own all the music on my laptop on CD and have no downloaded stuff, or copied stuff??? Help!!

Thanks

Gav

(1) No idea, but I am sure that given time somebody will come along and offer advice on this

(2) This is still an ongoing grey area. Technically the law says you can make ONE copy (back up) of any original material that you own...provided you can prove you own it if required, and also that only one copy is in use at any given time (For instance you couldn't make copies for a second roadshow, and use the originals at one and the copies for the other smile.gif ).

I would think that in theory you would be within the law to do this, I am assuming that this extension applies to public preformance and not just personal use

I've had a look at PCDJ FX, and to be honest I thought it was a bit too much for the mobile DJ, one good thing about PCDJ FX is the ability to speed up the tempo of a track whilst no making the vocals sound like Pinky and Perky (showing my age there).

Although other programmes are very good (otsjuke, mixmeister to name two) I love the ease of use that PCDJ brings, plus you can do every part of the programme via the keyboard.

I am going to get my digital camera and take a shot of my keyboard to show fellow "jocks" on how I've overlaid the main keyboard functions of PCDJ.

Going back to increasing the tempo, there are a number of programmes about that gives you the ability to speed up the tempo whilst retaining normal vocals.... Now that's an idea for a thread on here, and I will start with "Hot Love by T.Rex (blimey now really showing my age!!) increase the tempo by about 3 percent for a great dance track.

If it's production stuff you want to do:

Cheap - go for remix by steinberg - sometimes difficult but not bad
Cooledit Pro2 - very, very simple and good to use.
Software audio workshop pro - classic one this. very pro
Soundforge - very good
Fruityloops3 - all round decent little pack this one!

Cubase can do audio time stretching good now, but for serious censored.gif , look at pro tools!

PCDJ fx - gimmik!
