Or how about Whitney Houston ~I will always love you, wet, wet, wet,Bryan Adams.
Just because it stays at no.1 doesn't mean it's any good.

in your opinion!!!!!!!

Despite the various conspiracy theories about record companies buying thousands of copies of their own singles from local record shops years ago, to bump their artists to No.1, its more commonly the case that records reach No.1 because the record is popular with the general public - the same general public who we DJ to at family do's etc.

Whether its Whitney, Brian, or James Blunt - they rarely fail to get couples up onto the dancefloor to do the "Turn-round-slowly-with-your-eyes-shut-and-grope-her-bum-as-its-rotated-away-from-the-audience" dance. hug.gif

That same Joe Public that put Joe Dolce at number one instead of Ultravox biggrin.gif

What do they know, eh?

I'm not saying I wouldn't play it. But I wouldn't listen to it.

I would have to say that the James Blunt track is different in another way - as far as I can remember (but I'm sure I'll be put right) it is one of the few No. 1's in recent times to enter the charts and then climb to the No. 1 spot - you know, like records did when we were kids LOL.

Most records to top the charts in recent years have been played to death on the radio for weeks, THEN released, gone straight in at No. 1 for a week or two, then fallen down the charts.

Having said that, Blunt does have the might of the record company behind him. I expect they will re-release all the previous singles in the next few months, and clean up. But I'm a fan, so I don't care ;)

Jack.
