Defected has always been 1 of my fav labels and used to buy a lot of there vinal and convert it to cd whenever i was not playing in a club with decks.

now i don't have to biggrin.gif after reciving this email from defected.

>>DEFECTED LAUNCH NEW DIGITAL DJ FORMAT<<
With the ever growing trend for CD mixing, Defected have launched a brand new Maxi CD format which features ALL full length mixes, in some cases the cds will couple up releases to provide maximum value for money. For the first time CD DJs will be able to get hold of those releases that were previously only available on 12". Check the website for tracklistings and more info.

I think that this is another step toward the future for our industry. Hopefully, now that one of the more respected, well known, upfront record companies have suddenly been hit on the back of the head by a flying cd jewel case, and made the move, other record companies will too.

If they watch their sales closely between the two formats, hopefully they will see cd sales rise and rise as vinyl sales fall.

That will then give the other record companies something to think about, and follow suit on.

Then, with more and more upfront tunes more readily available to DJs on CD, more cd decks will get into clubs...and that will be it for vinyl...

No wonder Stanton started adding all sorts of mixers and hardware to their range on styli and cartridges....
