Anybody know how much a second hand PM80 mixer is worth? It's been ragged out of a nightclub and offered to me. 533.gif

Which make?...I know of about 3 PM80's each from different manufacturers...ranging from Phonic, upwards.

Having been in a club, I presume its the Formula Sound one?? I've seen a few knocking around for not much at all(around £200). Just make sure you can get replacement modules as the PM80 was released quite a while ago.

If it IS the Formula Sound PM80, then I was offered one about a year ago for £120... its a modular mixer (eg: you bought the frame, which had the output/cueing section built-in, but after that you added Mic channels, Phono/record deck channels, or CD/Aux/Tape channels in any combination (2 of those, 3 of these etc...up to 8 modules total I think).

The modules (last year when I looked) were about £100 each...which was too much for me to consider buying "a couple" of, just in case the manufacturer decided to stop making the modules.

In fact, I just called Formula Sound direct, to add a bit of substance and hard facts...

Phono modules: A few left, should be £154 but will sell for £100 "just to get rid of them"
Tape/CD/Aux module: None left, but the above phono module CAN be modified to work as one of these.
Mic: Quite a few left

They did each module in Two band (Bass/Treble) and Three band(Bass/Mid/Treble) versions, what they have a mixture of each left.

There are no Timed Crossfade/Mic overide modules left. (shame...the timed Crossfade was neat...20 seconds...GO!)

A replacement power supply (why did she mention this Pro-actively? do they tend to go????) would be around £30.

Depending on the price that you've been offered, and the modules that its got in it...I wouldnt buy one second hand now to use, although they were excellent mixers in their day. I would however suggest that you consider buying one to advertise the modules/spares for on internet sites etc...you could make a tidy sum.

Its also worth mentioning that Formula Sound do two very unique "other bits" of kit.

For £400 you can have "Shadow Mixer"...a very clever 1 rack unit 4 channel mixer, which is simply connected in-line between all your CD-decks, mic, turntables etc and your main mixer. Should your main mixer go BANG one evening mid show, simply press one button on the Shadow mixer and you are INSTANTLY back in business. OK, its all rotary controls so a bit fiddly, but better than a 10 minute re-wiring break.

At the other end of the scale... a £5 note gets you 300 assorted self-adhesive stickers for your equipment, with such useful old favourites (no I dont mean Mikeee biggrin.gif ) such as "Tape 2", "Mic in", "EQ Send Left", "Master Out" etc etc etc.... much better than those tacky Dymo Labellers.

Thanks Guys, I don't know what sort PM80 it was but he wanted around £150 for it so it's not exactly a bargain. I've already got a Citronic CDM8:4 which is fine for what I want I just thought if it was cheap enough I might be able to sell it on.
