Full Version: Mastermix CD's and Boxsets

Now, I'm not too fussed about the monthly CDs' and Promo service from Mastermix, although I understand its got a good hit rate on it...

...what I was wondering about were which Mastermix CD's from their box sets, compilation CD's, best mmmmmm tracks of all time etc, that DJU Members are using.

I've seen some of the track listings on their wedding albums, or "DJ in a box" type albums, even some which offer music quizes, TV themes, Who wants to be a millionaire music collection etc etc, but not sure how practical all of those tracks would be.

Hence, I thought I'd ask everyone else. 533.gif

I have a few of the boxes. The only one I use religiously is the Party in a Box. These CD's are used at EVERY gig I play.

I also own the 70s Theme Night which is pretty useful too.

I guess the biggest problem is duplication of songs already owned - otherwise I would probably buy all of the Mastermix range...

I make use of the 60s box most nights, and some of the excellent CC series. I have the DJ box, it hardly gets used wacko.gif

I have more or less everything they have ever produced and think that my most used set has to be "Jock in a box". I dont use many mixes other than Soul Banana, the Jackson's mix and a very old motown smoochie mix.

I also have most of the un-mixed DMC compilations. Again, some useful stuff, but I dont use many of their mixes.

I like the ranges that they both do. I have a lot of duplications,I admit.

The wedding box set is very useful

I use the Rock N Roll set most nights...

The DJ Box occassionally - I did used to use the 60s Box all the time, but it got pinched and I got different CDs to replace it (was in spain at the time and couldnt get it again there)

I love the mastermix stuff and use at most gigs the following:

The Ballad Box 1 & 2
The Sixties Box 1 & 2
The Rock'n'Roll Box
A load of the classic cuts discs

I also have the whole 70's Night & 80's Night collections as well as the DJ Box, these all come in handy a whole lot of the time as they are in order. I do like the look of the new soul box they have just brought out.

the soul banana mix is legendary never failed to generate a packed dancefloor although i have abandoned the pro disc series for i tunes now as a lot of tracks i just never played.

This is great, you probably already have most of these classic tunes, but it is good to have them to hand so easily.

It is available on Jock in a box 2. Or issue 148.

There is an extended soul banana mix on Issue 211. I know that some swear by it, but I have played it a couple of times to mixed reactions....

Just bought the new Mastermix Dance Anthems box set, which I'm listening to now. Again, many duplications, but still some great stuff which I don't have (e.g. The Launch, Such a Good Feeling). I also have the Mastermix DJ box set, which I don't use very often, but think that its essential for some of the utilities and event tracks. I would say my most played range is the Classic Cuts series - they are really excellent, not many bad tracks at all, particularly on the 80s/90s. I also get all the DMC monthly releases, which keep me up-to-date and the Commercial Collections have some great mixes on, which if good, come out time and time again.

Party in a Box is the one I use every gig:)

The Classic Cuts CDs are very useful

Plus cherry pick the Remixes etc CDs, the dance mix of Amarillo for example has been very useful:)
