Chris,

would you be able to make me up a custom dmx cable so i can connect my soundlab dmx controller (the one you supply with the colour scans) to my geni mojo spinmaster 3s? i tried making my own but its a little dodgy and u have to have the cable in a certain possition for it to work and im sure this would never be classed as safe and its a pain in the a*** so i need one proffessionaly made.

anyway,

the settings on the controller are as in the photos bellow

it doesnt need to be a long cable, infact, shorter the better! but ide also like to order 2 long normal cables from you if that would be ok?

If you can help then throw me a quote and ill send you the money for it. rolleyes.gif

Thanks

Okay, I really love it when manufacturers cross the Data Lines - i.e One Manufacturer uses pin 2 as "+" data signal and the other uses the same pin as Data "-". mad.gif I think it's time that manufacturers agreed on A DIN standard like they do on Speakons!.

You realise that you will need to ensure that you mark and use a certain lead for a certain effect, since by making up a custom lead to work this, means that one side of the connector will have pins 2 & 3 reversed?. So you won't be able to use it with effects that have pin 1 connected to pin 1, pin 2 connected to pin 2 etc. So you will need to mark up the lead that links the controller to the first Mojoscan in the chain (The custom lead), and use it every time you set up.

yup ill just put a little sticker on it so i know that its the one. and its ok with only being able to use those effect with that controller because i only have geni lights (2 spinmaster3s and 2 scans) and so its ideal.

if when making the cable u made it in a fancy colour it would make things easier laugh.gif but im not bothered, stickers work fine

Because of the non-standard wiring issue, wouldnt a short (EG: 6 inch) DMX male > DMX female inline adaptor be better... that way you plug the adaptor into the back of the "customer wired" light effect and then happily plug in all the standard DMX cables whereever you like (within reason! blink.gif )

I made a similar "cross-wiring adaptor" for 4 channel Bulgins (for my light screens) so that anything that I ran off of the "other" side of the adaptor went 4,3,2,1 as the controller went 1,2,3,4.

so how much will it cost chris? .. including 2 more 6m ish normal cables?

Okay,

6M DMX Leads XLR - XLR based on 2 off (1 with crossed Data polarity) using 100 ohm Digital DMX Cable:- £11.25 each

Or:-

As above but using standard screened Balanced cable (Usually okay for DMX use upto 10m in length in 99% of applications) £6.50 each.

Carriage charged at our standard rate for upto 10kg. £6.25 for 24 - 48 hour delivery.

chjris, just want to make sure that you have noticed that the 1 & 2 are on opposite sides on the sockets. sdo i believe you will need to swap 1 & 2 as well as 2 & 3 if you get me?

thanks,

and ill go for the 11.25 cable.

so basicly i want 2x 6meter DMX cable AND 1x custom crossover cable at any length.
