Hi guys, once again i am calling upon your knowledge!

I have a gig at The Archbishops School Canterbury tommorow night and i really want to make a good impression! I used to go to school there and am doing this one gig as a free-be and am hoping it will result in more regular bookings from the school. So as i want to be remembered, can anyone recomend a really good song to finish with, not slow though! I will do the slow set of 2 or 3 songs then say "That was blahdeblah playing us out tonight, we hope you have enjoyed yourselves and we haope to see you again very very soon! Until next time this is Stuart and Warren of Starnights Mobile Disco saying goodnight and take care. Gona leave you with this excellent tune!" BANG, the last, upbeat song starts. So what should it be, im thinking something dancy but am open to any recomendations.

Cheers guys, really appreciate it!

Backstreet Boys 'Larger than life' offers a Good finish and lightshow.

Slightly Slower

Phantom Planet - California

More Upbeat

Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back

Survivor - Eye Of A Tiger

Soca Girls - Cha Cha Slide

Hands in the air dance tunage

DJ Tiesto - Barbers Adagio For Strings

Darude - Sandstorm

If there a cheesy bunch I would say Grease! Or Soca Girls. Having said that I played Queen - Don't Stop Me Now a few gigs previous worked a treat!

Thats a good question.

In the past i got asked for the Aerosmith - I Dont Wanna Miss A Thing. That tune seemed to go down well.

For the younger ones Amarillo would be a good one because they could all have a final dance to amarillo before the end.

How About Grease - We Go Together? or the grease megamix

Long shot but you could also try the Hokey Cokey. Really at the end i thnk getting as many up as possible on the dancefloor is a good idea.

To finish id go with something cheesy. If they dont want it. Then id finish up with one of the popular modern ballads from the chart.

Wanna be remembered? Then never finish with slowies - go out with a bang, you want them singing your last song all the way home. Is it a school disco? How about:

Jump arond - house of pain

or something really stupid like:
Postman Pat - Len Barry laugh.gif nono.gif
Ellis Hall - Flip flop fly (you know, from Chicken Run)

If it's grown ups, try:
Frank Sinatra - NYNY or Fly me to the moon
Darude - Sandstorm also works a real treat for the right audience

AJS Mobile Disco
It's sort of cheesy now but how about Busted - That's what I go to school for

Or even School Out by Alice Cooper
Or as Pink Floyd appear to be cool.gif this week you could try Another Brick in the Wall
Anne
FDDJ
The Killers - Somebody Told Me

Andy Williams - Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You

Queen - Don't Stop Me Now

Or if you do a slow song:

James Blunt - Your Beautiful

Kingy
Given their age, I would probably do Amerillo.
Gary
Finish on a sample:

Pink Floyds: Brick in the wall....

"Hey...Teacher, leave those kids alone...".

Or, as Darudes: Sandstorm has been mentioned a couple of times... why not mix it in with Bob the Builder bits over the top... its urm Memorable... tongue.gif

one slowie i'm particular to at the moment is

maroon 5 - she will be loved

or for a quickie

bryan adams - summer of 69

more modern would be

killers - somebody told me

sometimes when finishing with a couple of slowies i leave them with an upbeat song to finish on a high but that's just me

That's the response I got to adagio for strings about 2 songs from the end.....

P.S For some reason my lights didn't show up on camera.

Here's the Cha Cha Slide If I remember rightly and it was last song before some slowies

Try Katrina & the Waves - Walking on Sunshine use it a lot at gigs as a last song and seems to get everyone up.

Hmm maybe at weddings and older aged functions....

Teenagers, especially, will probably consider it uncool to play too much older stuff.

I'm 15 and would love Katrina and The Waves, but the majority of teenagers wouldn't.

I have an Under 18 night that I do regularly and seldom will you find me playing older music, it's usually rnb and dance.

I use one of the following:

Amarillo

Follow Da Leader

We Will Rock You (The Five version)
ryandio
I'd normally stick to the mostly R&B, Hip-Hop & Dance for this age group.

Slow ones

Nelly & Kelly - Dilemma
Akon - Ghetto or Locked Up
Robbie Williams - Angels
Oasis - Wonderwall
Mariah Carey - We Belong Together
2Pac - Changes

Fast Ones

Killers - Somebody Told Me
Tony Christie - Amarillo
Green Day - American Idiot
Blink 182 - All The Small Things

DJTwinspin
Someone asked me if id finish up with Bohemian Rhapsody for the end before. For a song to end.

Adults are pretty much easy

Gerry & The Pacemakers - You'll Never Walk Alone
Bryan Adams - Everything I Do (I do it for You)
The Monkees - Daydream Believer.
Frank Sinatra - New York New York

But as for kids. Something they all like to end it with. Even if you play amarillo during the night sometime. Could still finish up with it. Just like you could with the cha cha slide. Its one of them songs where your probably gonna get asked for it once or twice.

Well just incase anyone is intrested i ended with "House Of Pain : Jump Around" It was requested during the night so i thought ok, i held it back till the end and they loved it! I was singing it all the way home so some of them must of been aswell! I think it was the best disco we have ever done! 300 14 and 15 year olds loving every song that we played! Packed dance floor all night! And very very loud! I took my amo into almost clipping!!! fear.gif And my Deltec bins were spitting out some nice bass!

Thanks for all your advice!

Nice work young man!! I bet the buzz from that gig will still be there today. This generates the sort of high that cannot be beaten by anything.
