I've got mine in the back of my front room, but thinking I want to store it in the garage to get "work" out of my main living area.

Thing is though, although it won't get rained on in the garage, it's still "outside"-ish and I'm worried it'll get rusty/mouldy.

Any ideas?

Cheers, Jon.

Ah, we had a topic on safe external storage of gearabout a year ago.

I'll post the link to that thread tomorrow for you, when I'm back on a big pc...unless someone else posts the link in the meantime.

Theres this one about condensation in vans, with general storage tips too. (condensation in van)

and this one about Disco equipment versus bad weather / storage etc.

I hope that these two threads help (click on them above to view), and of course you can post extra questions, ideas etc on those threads too. I suspect that there are other threads with more suggestions on too.

mines kept in my garage, wouldnt attempt to leave it in a van around here, also the garage is alarmed and has a defender thing and extra locks on the doors. if you have power and worry about the damp just put in an electric heater but i have never had a problem.

Am lucky , mate has a disco shop so I keep my gear there. He gives me a key for after my gig so I can put it away.

However if he ever gets rid of the shiop then am in the pooh.gif

My gear used to be kept in the garage, along with a fridge-freezer. Never had any condensation at all. Removed the fridge-freezer and guess what?

That's right, we ran out of milk biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I do a lot of home recording so I have a spare room set-up as a recording studio - I keep all the gear in there, although it does make it a little cramped.

Im lucky to have a wharehouse that I can drive the disco van into and park it up. whare house has 24 hour security and alarms etc perk of being in charge of things at my day job biggrin.gif

Half of ours ( the half that usually goes out ) is in a ( carpeted ) Transit which is then reversed into our garage ( with extra padlocks - an insurance requirement ). That way there's no loading before a gig and none when we get back. The rest of our gear is flightcased and in a secure workshop extension to the garage. Never had a problem with condensation.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

The heater idea sounds good. Was wondering about putting a large cupboard in the garage and heating the inside of it when the temperature drops.

The "no load/unloading" van idea sounds good too, or alternatively a trailor.

Gary, if you could find that link that'd be fab - I had a search on the forums but can't find the thread...

Another good idea is if you do need to store kit in your garage to place it on a few pallets. Most damp rises from the ground so this way you keep an airflow area between the damp floor and your speakers (wood?).
