All
My left hand cd draw won`t open or (obviously) close. Stared on me last night.
Thank the lord for my lappy.
Anyone know why? Or how do I get my cd back...

There is a button somewhere on the head unit, it has instruction called Open/Close written on i/near it, have you tried pushing this gently ?

If you look along the lower edge of the drawer you may see a very small hole. Get a straightened paperclip, poke it into the hole & the drawer should open slightly allowing you to gently pull it to its maximum travel.

Whats the make/model of the CD-deck?
There is often a pinhole release, sometimes on the front of the drive, but more often on the rear or underside, which you can insert a pin (or an unfolded paperclip works really well) which will disengage the motor mech from the drawer, allowing you to manually pull the drawer open to retrieve the disk.
Alternatively, if the unit is out of warranty, you may find that the disc is accessible by taking the outer casing off of the drawer unit.
Be wary however, if the laser head is still over the disc surface - try to use the controls to get the laser out of the way first.

Another method I've used, but can't remember what on, is to hold the eject button in while powering up.

ste i had exactly the same prob last month left hand drawer wont open, believe it or not, it was the remote connector cable (from cd player to controller) came out a fraction causing it to fail, just pushed it back in and all ok, hope its the same with yours? think it was caused by just transporting the gear etc

Uh oh time to pay out more money on either fixing it or buying a new one. You should be able to fix it yourelf it's most likely the tray mechanism has become missaligned or jammed and they are pretty simple to fix.
Good luck

What make and model player is it? Most of the time it'll be the belt slipping as the first inch or so of the drawer travel takes up the most torque.
