Dont know much about the Ultracurve but I found the CDM 10:4's EQ absolute censored.gif
Far too brutal. I just completely avoided that question!!!

Leave this one for Chris, I'm only mobile and have a DP on my system

The Ultra-Curve is Good...perhaps a little too overkill for Mobile applications since it is more suited to 5kw+ Sound Rigs and larger P.A Applications.

I would say that if your Sound System is over 2kw, and the EV, HK, Bose, Mackie Etc High End Equipment then the Ultra Curve would be a Very good buy for your system smile.gif

If however, your System is below this, then you would benefit to the same extent from the use of a 31 Band Graphic Eq.

All systems benefit from the use of A Sound Enhancement Processor, I personally recommend the Behringer EX-3200 which can make your P.A system sound more natural, as well as adding additional Bass & Treble to your EQ.

You can find info on the EX-3200HERE

If anybody uses MP3's of 128kb bitrate and above, will also greatly benefit from the addition of a Sound Enhancer.

If you've already had a quote, then email it to me and I'll see if I can better it for you. smile.gif

I use the Behringer 3102 equaliser (which I think they call "Ultracurve") on my mobile rig and its truely amazing for the price. Its a 31 band (eg: 31 faders per stereo side)... and you're able to adjust the tiniest part of the sound output. I wouldnt be without it now.

Also, there are hi-pass and low-pass filters (rotary) which allow you to set the Lowest and Highest frequencies that your system will play. Great for eliminating bass feedback from deep, rumbling hollow stages, or mic feedback from shiny hard tiled swimming pools/sports halls or all-glass conservatries. You are able to adjust these two rotary knobs, without changing your overall "31 band" settings.

Another hand feature is that theres a one-second delay (deliberate) before the audio circuits are connected, when you power up the unit. This means that you can switch your entire sound system on "at the wall" without any "Power up POPS!" reaching your speakers.

Oh and most importantly, the little shiny LED's are really cool.... biggrin.gif laugh.gif

thats the ultragraph gary is refering to- a bloody brilliant eq. Any way - i dunno if your the same guy who saked this elsewhere so thought id post here too - sorry if you are kelv

he ultracurve is a tasty piece of lit - however for the average mobile disco etc its tooo complicated to set up i find. When i crew, and were taking out 10K or above etc then we use the ultracurve - but when im doing a school prom or something i find that a dual 15band graphic is much more user friendly and quicker to adjust and it does the job fine. If u do use an ultracurve you get the advantages of the gate/limiter etc so it can slim your sig processing rack down a bit
one thing i particularly like about the ultracurve is that when some know it all bloke wants to come n turn the vol up or something all there faced with is a screen and 8 buttons - usually makes them confused, as they're used to twisting knobs. (no pun intended)

AH THAT Ultracurve....the 8024 and probably 9024 by now. the one with the massive LCD screen etc...

I was warned off of the 8024 due to it sending a "blip" out over the audio whenever you changed modes from "Listen" to "Equalise" (or any other two modes)... this was demonstrated to me, blips'n'all in the shop. However, I've since learned that they did soft clever software/firmware upgrade which got rid of the blips for live work(ers).

I find it hard..to work out how Behringer make such excellent stuff (blips aside) for such a crazy low price.
