OK then. I'm a big fan of DJ interactivity, particularly at weddings. Most DJs in my market tend to turn up, play great music (usually too loudly!), take a few requests, make a handful of announcements and then call it a night. I like to add a bit more tasteful fun into the night.

Therefore, I'll reveal this one wonderful gem to you once a few of you have had a decent guess at what's going on in this picture. I took the picture just after getting the ball rolling. Brides love this and just look at all of the faces!

So what's happening here?

First round of the always popular "Al Jolson" competition?

Or the Bride is picking the winner of the "most sunburned guest" competition?

its the old "Whos got the biggest forehead" competition.

The girl standing up, visible over the grooms(?) shoulder has been excluded as she'd win instantly. biggrin.gif

Have you just announced that this is a spoof wedding and that the bride and you are going to shack up together?

The bride has just told them a very sad story about how she can not pay for the wedding and has asked for volunteers to pay. Only one volunteer at present. Everyone is on their knees pleeding she doesn't ask them for money biggrin.gif

Close?

Ollygeorge & DiscoDirect are bang-on! I stopped the music early in the evening, asked the Bride to take a seat in the middle of the dance floor on a chair I had ready and gathered all of the men around her. Once they were good and close (that's her new husband behind her), I started the Righteous Brothers "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" and got them to serenade her. After 60 seconds or so I change the song into a big hit like "Brown Eyed Girl" and get on with the night. Try it some time!

What other successful interactives are being done at the moment?
C.S
I do limbo competitions, sketch involving wedding guests as actors and comedy folk dancing lesson ! Unfortunately they are for the norwegian market and probably wouldnt work anywhere else. I only do these at weddings where it is arranged beforehand and the crowd are up for it !
Dukesy
All sorts of audience interaction as I read the crowd, including the above example. Anythying that is appropriate for the time and moment.

I guess one we should think about doing is the opposite of the above - get the girls to sing a song to the groom. What song could we use though - any ideas?

Shoop Shoop Song?

Richard, we tried it at an 18th birthday party last night - BRILLIANT!!! She was lovin' it thumbup.gif

If you like wearing your speaker stands as a scarf, how about:

Beautiful South's "Don't Marry Her, Have me..."

Rolling Stones: "(I can't get no) Satisfaction"

Heck knows what the girls'll get upto woth the poor fella if you play:

Cyndi Lauper: "Girls just wanna have fun" whistling.gif

That's great Brian. Thanks for sharing the photo!

Isn't it fun? biggrin.gif

Whilst we're sharing I sometimes play the Mummy game - as recommended by Kazz (I think) in the Kids Games section. Get as many teams as you can consisting of between two and five members, nomintae a mummy for each team and the others have the length of one song to wrap them up like a mummy. Get the crowd to vote using your arm as the clapometer (idea from Paula I think).

If they are really up for it - and you have to be very careful here - you can use whipped cream as embalming fluid....ahem. It obviously introduces a lot more mess so only use this selectively.

Once the game is over give out two bin liners, another idea from Kazz, whichever team brings back the fullest bag of rubbish wins a prize - sweets and glowstuff for kids, champagne for adults.

Can't see you doing this Rendezvous! Toilet rolls and tuxedo's don't compliment each other too well!
High Fidelity
Sounds a brilliant idea, and I particularly like the idea that it worked at an 18th. I'm really tempted to try it this weekend at the 21st I'm doing for a girl.

Any other tracks that anyone can think of. I initially thought of McFly - It's all about you for this 21st birthday girl. 533.gif

That's a dirty filthy rumour which I deny wholeheartedly and besides which, when did you see the photos???? tongue.gif

How about a 'dress the bosses up like a Christmas tree' game? Get a whole lot of cheap decorations and tinsel and pick teams to have the duration of a Christmas song to decorate a manager.

What about releasing tables to the buffet by holding a guess the TV theme trivia challenge?
