First of all a big THANK YOU to everyone that replied to this thread

and for the 'Good Luck' sentiments.
The gig happened last night so to report:
When I was initially booked it was for 3hrs - 1st hr background music during the BBQ then 2 hrs of disco then fireworks. When I arrived to set up there had been a 'few' changes; it would seem that everyone wanted to be involved so during the BBQ a brass band (who were very good), then a 'bongo' group from Zimbabwe and some break dancers (also good) followed by a 20min video presentation of the competitors activities since arriving on Mon.
It's now 8.50 and I'm due to finish at 9.30!! The visitors (from Panama) had given me a few CDs of their genre of music so during the video I used the time to pre-listen & choose suitable tracks, mixing in some of our own popular stuff. And what a ball we had. The dance floor was full from the start (and not a drop of alcohol in the place). At 9.30 the organiser came up & asked if I could do another 30mins which I was glad to do.
Then to the fireworks. They were to last 20mins & I had enough suitable music (thanks to you) to cover this but change of plan (there always is when you're on top of the game). A special anthem had been recorded for the games & they wanted this played throughout the fireworks so I just looped it. Gave us a chance to start dismantling the lighting rig which was just as well because as soon as the f/works ended a team started to dismantle the marquee from around us and not a hard hat in sight! Also lucky it wasn't raining.
So all in all a very unusual & enjoyable night plus 2 bookings received for later this summer - life ain't all bad
During the disco several people came up with their CDs for me to play. Most of the tracks were under 2mins in length but quite uplifting stuff so I was happily fitting them in until one of the interpreters informed me that the lyrics were not entirely suitable for some of the younger people. It would seem that they have their own versions of Eminem

Set-up or what.
And I almost forgot.. the snow machine was a big hit. Some of these people had never seen real snow & thought that this was it plus it looked really good floating down in front of the lights.
Thanks again
