Hi, 042.gif

I decided to totally change my roadshow, as some of you know I'm fairly young (16) and want to do ages 6-30 discos, as this is where I know most of the music. I can mix garage,d+b and oldskool so this may encourage a few ideas and give you idea of what I'm after.

However this does involve a new name, website and more promotion. This is were your thinking caps come in handy I need a new name thats,

1)Easy to remember.
2)Something that appeals to the younger audience
3)Something short and to the point.
4)original and not copied.

A bit of a mission, but I know there's alot of creative people on here-and yes, you can take that as a compliment biggrin.gif
Dynamite Discos
What about some kind of play on Club 18 - 30.
like NIGHTclub 18 - 30 since this is your age range (ish)

i went for dynamite discos - alliterative, catchy, and explosive lol make ur event go with a bang - dince then ive discovered someone else used my name in essex - is there any way i can copywrite etc?
Tonsk
You can register it at company's house as a registered trademark I think...

Then they would have to change their name, or fight you for it etc... Or pay royalties for using it... Thatd be kewl...

Anyways DJ SbD, what about something like

Ibiza Nights ?

Korny, dont know if anyone else has it - but gets people knowing the style your gonna play before they even meet you....
Dynamite Discos
actually that sucks
Sorry ! lol
Chrispy
Okay Corny Names that i've come across in the past, or that are over used tongue.gif Sorry if you are called one of these and come across this post! tongue.gif

"Sounds Around" - Every Man and his dog use this one!

"Travelling Light" - Hmmm, Corny but catchy!

"Starsound Roadshow" - Again, at least one in every town!

"Knight" or "Night" life Roadshow - Whichever way you spell it it's still 363.gif

Any Name with "Ace" in it - Ace Roadshow....Yuk! very 80's smile.gif

"AAA" or "A1" or "AAAA" Roadshow - Hmmm one way of getting 1st listing in the Yellow Pages

"Garyoke" - Used to be original but every KJ is called Gary now aren't they!

Fill in the blanks...........

tonyj

uuummmm-new names needed-(this is harder than I thought!!, before it was SBD Discos, but its not very catchy-although I like Ultimate roadshow (I've got a feeling Chris P will be along soon!!!!! tongue.gif -Only joking Chris!!!)

Maybe a play on words etc... wacko.gif or mix something wacko.gif wacko.gif
Paul Smith
Always a tough one because whatever you choose you 're gonna spend money promoting it - so you'll have to stick with it.
Keep a notebook handy & write down every idea as you think of it - no matter how daft it may seem at the time
Go to your local library & check out Yellow Pages for other areas - you don't have to copy someone else but it could give you some fresh ideas.
After a week look at your list & hopefully one will jump out at you
Good Luck

Gary
Hmmm...ok Thinking CAP ON...LIKE YOU SAID....OH hAnG on..that was just CAPS LOCK on.... biggrin.gif

OK, you're playing mainly "urban" music...so how about "Urban Dex".

or in fact, just "Dex"...

"Urban Nights"

"Graffiti"

"Init!"

If you're really not after any gigs for over 29 year olds, then try "Loud'n'proud"

Avoid cliché names...eg: Anything starting with "NIGHT" or anything ending with "Sound"... sad.gif

oops.gif apologies to anyone from "Night Sound Disco"... tongue.gif

Chrispy
How about "Bodget and Scarper"?? - Bound to get you booked tongue.gif

Or if you are appealing to younger people then:- "Texts and Dexs?"

Just a thought 1087.gif

Guys! Whats all this about? sterb188.gif 363.gif sterb188.gif

Really annoyed at you for banging the sound name! sterb188.gif
We've used the same name for 40 years and theres nothing wrong with it sterb188.gif & have no intention of changing it as then people would not reconise me.
Yes! were Sounds Good Discos & i dont use the name Paulaokkee OK!!!!!
I say 40 years but Im not that old as most of you will no I took it over When the dj himself hung up his headphones.

As for your change of name thing I liked Garys idea or why not go off to one of them anagram websites and see what you can get out of your name, I think its called anagram generator, or something!!!!

Chrispy
Well we've had a D.J / Music Producer called Tall Paul

So How about "Taller Paula" smile.gif

Or knowing your 40 a day habit:- "Smokey Karaoke!"

Okay, Okay I'll shut up! wacko.gif
Gary
Oh, oh... oops.gif Looks like thats now 4 and a half drinks that I owe Paula at Plasa now...(Where am I going to find the money from? Is September too early to start my Carol singing round? ) laugh.gif 095.gif laugh.gif

How about this....find one of those battery operated dancing Christmas Tree's (with the speaker or "Christmas melody Chip" cut out) and put it in FULL sight on top of the disco...

And call yourself.

biggrin.gif The Mini-tree of Sound.... biggrin.gif

Don't bother...I'll do it myself.... 1087.gif

Why not apply some reverse psychology blink.gif

Why not call it "Crappy discos" I'd love to try this out!

[ only as good as your equipment?]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT'S THE MAN, NOT THE MACHINE, that makes the difference.

True, but, if your an adventurous mixing dj you need the good equipment with all the mod kons to perform better and stay ahead of the rivals, not some censored.gif homemix stuff.

Many many many many many (you get the idea !) moons ago when it was 'cool' to have a z in your name I started off my then smal empire being called Andy's Disco Soundz because it told everybody what I did, my name for contact and it was 'cool'. As the company grew and I did more than just discos I had a change of name/image/direction, but shortened the name to it's initials so became ADS Entertainments, looked better on invoices for corporate events but kept the name of the business to the people who already knew me (some even booked me more than once laugh.gif )
mikeee
Back in the 70's when I was young (I'll hit the first person who....), I called myself Live Sounds Disco, silly, no. All the people that used it in the 60's called me for their weddings in the 70's.
So using the same theory - Extacy - comes to mind.
