Just seen that the new Guiness British Hit Singles & Albums book has just been released. The 18th edition. Amazon are doing a deal where you can buy this book plus "The Complete UK Hit Singles" book for £25.88 for the two of them Amazon.
The complete hit singles book looks to have some ecellent details on every artist to have charted since 52.
I think I'm gonna buy these 2. I always used to buy the Guiness singles & albums books almost religiously as they were well handy when I was doing my radio shows; but have stopped buying them since I finished radio.
Do many DJs buy/use these books?

I always buy the "Guiness British Hit Singles/Albums" because I do Music Quizzes, and take the book with me settle any disputes.

However an anorak at a Quiz few years ago pointed that were some errors/ommissions in them, he was was right as well. Can't remember what they were but I presume those particular ones were rectified in the next edition.

So nowadays I always cover my backside my saying whatever the book says is final.

But I have got the Top40 singles from the 50's to date (well a couple months ago) in Excel format on my computer which enables to sort and filter out any imformation quickly, and add my own comments were necessary to each entry.

I have a book written by Paul Gambiccini, Mike Read and Jo and Tim Rice. It's called The Guiness Book of 500 Number One Hits.

It lists the first 500 UK number ones, complete with a bit of a story on each one. There's the usual facts and figures section at the back too.

I still have this book today - 23 years after I got it off Santa. It is an excellent book, thoroughly recommended for a nostalgic trip.
