Anyone planning on playing a little Eurovision set this weekend? I will be - Abba (Waterloo), Bucks Fizz (Making Your Mind Up), Cliff (Congratulations), Gina G (Just a Little Bit), Brotherhood of Man (Save All Your Kisses), Lulu (Boom Bang-a-Bang) and Sandie Shaw (Puppet on a String).
I might play a background music set with some of the songs, and then have a cheesey party moment with some of the others. Any excuse to play some memories!

For anyone stuck in front of Eurovision this weekend - Switch the subtitles on during the foreign songs.
On previous years, they've been really funny - as some of the translations seem to be slightly off ... with humourous results.
As for a Eurovision set, I've only done a Eurovision theme at pub gigs if the pub event and Eurovision co-incided. Whilst there are the Abba's and the Gina'Gs which are good to dance to, there are a few UK Eurovision artists/songs which just dont "go" at a disco, even though they may well be great songs in their own right.

With the right crowd last years winner could work..
Ruslana - Wild Dances
I actually thought it was a pretty good track as far as eurovision goes! If you announce what it is you might be able to get some reaction.
And don't forget our most recent winner - love shine a light by katrina and the waves.. might work near the end of the night possibly???
