hi

I took a video of my last gig which I would like to put on my pc. I only had the use of an analog VHS-C camera on the night. Is there any way I can get the material from the camera to my PC. My PC video card has a round yellow connector on it and the usual VGA socket. The camera just has a small socket like where you might plug in an expansion card or something - no RCA outputs or anything.

I understand I can get a mechanical tape adaptor to put the VHS-C tape into and play it on a standard video player. Would this help in the conversion?

Sorry if the questions are a bit dumb - I have never tried this stuff before fear.gif

the round conector on your VGA card will be a video output.. what you need is video in...

this feature is only suported on high end grahpics cards...

you can however invest in a TV card with a s-vhs/composit video input . these start at arround £30

or a better graphics card

or find a mate with a PC than can capture video (cheepest option)

If this conversion is likely to be a one-off, you could take a look at the conversion services which many high-street photo shops (1 hour print type places) offer to transfer most video tape sizes/formats to DVD, which any PC with a DVD-ROM drive will read.

If, however, this is going to be a regular conversion process, go with Marky Marcs excellent suggestion....

Unless, of course, anyone on the forum has VHS-C playback, PC video IN, DVD-Write, and a few minutes spare.... grouphug.gif (Since I dont have VHS-C playback, I fall at the first hurdle...)

That will only work if the dig cam is a high end 1 with av in not many have that feature

thanks for the info guys. I have sent the tape to a specialist who will copy it all in for £15 - to an .avi file which I can edit and upload to my web site
