Hi I sold my old 800 watt Carlsbro Amp 5 years ago

the guy says I can have it back for £25... he hasnt used it

been in his garage.

Trusting it is working ok.....

But when i sold it to him it was rotten then....leds not working

inside was rotten as it had been in a club for 5 years before i had it.

so ....... is it possible to have it cleaned.... etc..serviced what would they do...

is it worth the cost....orange disco Reading said £35 deposit and then anything on top....im worried they might find problems..if you know what i mean.

any ideas..................also.... any ideas to finish the front of the amp...as it is scratched etc...........it would go into a flight case so sides etc not a problem.

get a paint brush and the hoover take the top off and get all the fluff out.....

are you any good with a soldering iron ???? as led's are simple to replace....

this amp should come apart in sections so it should be easy to sort out....

Bear in mind that some amps can retain a dangerous charge for weeks after last use. Check your capacitors before diving in.

You can use a can of compressed air where the hoover cannot reach[between very small gaps].

But a word of warning, the compressed can must not be very close to the components or it will 'freeze it' and sometimes damage it.

There are some very good electronic cleaner sprays. Make sure you use the ones that leave no residue.

The items that can suffer with age are electrolytic capacitors (can dry out), and potentiometers. Also any large component that is reliant just on solder joints for fixing can have dry joints on them.

Mosfets and transistors that have thermal grease to heatsinks will benefit for re-greasing.

Fans are notorious for lowering Mean Time to Failure calculations in equipement, so if possible replacing with same rating would be beneficial given the age of the amp.
