I have 2 amps a 2 x200 watt and a 2 x 600 watt amp.
both are fan cooled
i want to flight case them both i would rather put them in one flight case a 4U
but do you think they will be ok working together this close. Heat wise etc.
or do you think it would be better to separate them in 2 x 2u cases.

I would say its more a question of weight rather than heat. As long as you can safely and comfortably manage a weight like this, heat will not be a prob.
The hottest amps I ever had were C-audio RA3001s, three in a rack, they ran so hot, but never let me down.

Def. weight rather than heat, don't forget another 2u for the crossover, or get a flightcase on wheels.
I have a 16u flightcase with two amps, one crossover, a power strip, one IEC rack, a power pack, and a few blanking panels, it is on wheels, but still not too heavey to lift onto the van.

at this stage i havent got an cross over etc....but i can perhaps sort that out at a later date.

I use a 12U on wheels for my amp cases....
4U is not enough, most crossovers are 1 or 2u and so get a 6U minimum.....
with 2 amps in one case you will need a hand in and out of the van before you do your back in.....

I have my 2 amps in separate flightcases as I don't always need the 2nd one, plus it all fits in the back of a car easier.
Heaviest thing I carry apart from the roadie is the amp.

two seperate flight cases would be my choice, mind you i have had three hernias so i always look for the lightest option, also if you employ a roadie then you should take into account that if you overload your flightcases to stupid weights then if they have an accident and make a claim you wont have a leg to stand on.

whats with you guys... scared of a little bit of work i see
bag on wheels looks good but you will need to take a look and see if it ill handel the mass of two amps without giving up....

Why, it doesn't mean it WILL hit your leg, your back will be the first thing to give up, not your legs

I switched to a 2 amp system last year and originally put the 2 into a single flight case, after 4 gigs I quickly rehoused them in seperate cases.
Much better.

Same here! We thought it would be a good idea to have both amps & the crossover unit in 1 case,

we only used it a few times like this before getting a 4U for one amp & the crossover & a 2U for the other amp.
Still got the 6U SKB flight case sitting in the shed doing nothing at the moment if you want to go down that route.

thanks lads...while cheaper to get a 4U i think 2 x 2u is the right idea makes sense

If you are thinking of getting a crossover unit at some time or even lighting controller of some sort, it might be an idea to get 2 X 4U cases to allow room for the extra bits & pieces. There’s not usually a lot of difference in price between them, & we wish we had gone for 2 X 4U instead of 1 X 4U & 1 X 2U.

Also don't forget some amps the hot air exits through the back others it exits through the front.
So I wouldn't want an amp blowing hot air back into the other amp sucking it in.
So two racks or a much larger rack I'd go for.
