I'm working well at a dance school who like a certain type of music strict beat straight 8 ie Chris Rea Road to Hell or Van Morrison Brown Eyed Girl get the picture?
Well here is my problem the customers have their favorites which I play but I get the feeling I'm playing the same songs week after week and not giving value. I always get a great music comment from the floor but I running out of ideas

Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough
ZZ Top - Gimme All Your Lovin' and Legs.
The Jam - Start (or The Beatles - Taxman) may do...not quite a straight 8 beat, but very close.
Oasis - Cigarettes and Alcohol (I think)
B52's - Love Shack
Aztec Camera - Somewhere in my Heart
Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
I think these are the kind of thing you are after - could confirm to give me a better idea?

Thanks Ben some good ideas there most of which I already use.
The other part of my question I didn't quite get across was how do DJ's with resedency's keep it fresh.

there is new music out every week... but that dont help when you are playing golden oldies like brown eyed girl...
maybe going through some of the less well know tracks from well know artists. tracks from albums that never made the charts etc....
or how about you bring them bang upto date with the latest club tunes as that is always changing....

I went to a rock cafe in Stoke last year - I was amazed at what I saw. The dance-floor was the size of my living room in a club the size of a warehouse. Unbelievable it was.
This obviosuly means the DJ is playing to a drinking crowd rather than a dancing crowd.
He played a great selection of stuff from 50's onwards - thing was, to keep people's interest up I guess, he never let any track last longer than two, maybe three minutes. It worked well because if something came on you didn't care for, then it was over before you could have got another drink or nipped to the loo.
