Hi,

I thought maybe we could have a topic for each different kind of music with each DJ saying 5 or 10 of the most popular tracks from that year/type. That way we might beable to find some tracks that we are not playing etc. Well we will give this one a try and see how it works. biggrin.gif

So Motown I'll list 5 I play alot:

1. Billy Ocean - Love Really Hurts
2. Foundations - Build Me Up Buttercup
3. Jackson 5 - I Want You Back
4. The Tams - Be Young Be Foolish
5. Edwin Star - Stop Her On Sight

Not meaning to sound pedantic but of that list 3 of them aren't Motown!
Billy Ocean & The Foundations are British and The Tams weren't on the Motown label either, they were on the Atlantic label the big rivals of Motown at the time.

I guess you're mostly referring just to that 60's soul sound?

My dancefloor list would include:
Motown:
Jackson 5 - Want you back
Isley brothers - This old heart of mine
Stevie Wonder - Uptight
4 tops - Can't help myself
Martha & the vandellas - Jimmy mack

General 60's soul, Stax, Atlantic etc:
Sam & Dave - Soul man
Arthur Conley - Sweet soul music
Wilson Pickett - Land of 1,000 dances
Gloria Jones - Tainted love
Bob & Earl - Harlem shuffle
