Lots of good cd collections available.

Tesco do a double cd and Amazon have a whole section dedicated to it.
Barbara Pennington, Johnny Bristol etc are good. More mainstream Chairmen Of The Board and any number of motown/soul artists are welcomed.

Just browse the amazon uk site for inspiration.

Top ones for me are:

Elle Warren - Shattered Glass
Judy Street - What
Laura Greene - Moonlight, Music & You
Mel & Tim - Backfield in Motion

As Robbie says, there are lots to choose from out there. A lot of the titles won't mean anything to you though unless you are a Northern Sould Officionado (is that a real word). 533.gif

There was a discussion on this not too long ago, try a search for Northern Soul.

Here's one of them.

To add to the above:

What by Judy Street
Nine times out of ten by Meuriel Day
I get a feeling by Barbra Randolf
Do I love you by Frank Wilson
Interplay by derek & ray
Green door by Wynder K frog

There are sooooo many goodies to choose from. I prefer to keep it commercial, as the specialists tend top keep to their own functions. I suppose its a bit of a specialist field for the heavier fans.

I know someone's gonna come back at me for this hiding.gif , but I often end a NS set with Al Wilson - The Snake or Maxine Nightingale - Right Back Where We Started From.

I know they're not strictly NS, but I've never had a complaint yet, and they nearly always go down well.

Oh Yes,

If you do a search on the Internet for Northern Soul, there are some good websites too. Here's one:

How could you all forget the original version of Tainted love by(Marc Bolan's Killer) Gloria Jones?

Keeping to the commercial ones, I find these go down OK

Limmie & Family Cooking - You Can Do Magic
Len Barry - 1-2-3
Dean Parish - I'm On My Way
Frank Wilson - Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)
Wayne Gibson - Under My Thumb
Frankie Valli - You're Ready Now
Billy Butler - The Right Track
Elgins - Heaven Must Have sent You
Newbeats - Run Baby Run

and this if you can find it, this is a real stomper,

Johnny Jones & King Casuals - Purple Haze

Its a cover of the Jimi Hendrix classic, Hendrix was actually a member of the King Casuals prior to starting his own band.
Ian Stewart
I have been playing this for ages now, and love it

Kenny Lynch - It's Too Late

Hendrix also featured on the Isley Brothers classic "Shout" in 63 well before he tasted any fame, he was just a house a musician at the record label.

Came across this while hunting round the net. Top 500 NS tracks. A bit too big to post, so here's the link.

Makes interesting reading.
