I just stumbled across a disco compnay based in Sevenoaks who will do a 4 hour disco that runs until after midnight for £85 +you even get free invitations.
I'm shocked but what is most annoying is that he get to the top of the seach engines on some searches

Probably spends the money that they saved from using illegal downloads, on google ads and search engine placements.

But the people who want to book him/her with free invitations would want to book me as I am too expensive for them, so it saves me having to talk to them

You can't name him, but...

Yes I'm interested to see that one too. Bet he doesn't have PLI PAT etc...
There are a couple of similar ones (without invites) around here, probably the ones that blow out at short notice & then the punter has heart failure when we tell them our rates (usually at about 4pm Saturday afternoons). I wonder how many unfortunates without that much money end up without a DJ at their parties??

at that rate he will go one of two ways.... he will put his prices up and invest in equipment and become a realy good road show or he will be gone by xmas...
wouldnt worry mate the public are not as stupid as we make them out to be.. its only the greedy hotel management and landlords who want the cheepest disco...

With this & the £99 disco company in the same area, no wonder things have been a bit quiet round here over the last couple of months!

It's true when people say about the 'downloading side' of new DJs - everyones a DJ now!

In a similar vein have a look at this

Well i must say i am not the dearest dj around and charge preety cheap only due to the fact that most of the time i do not have to travel due to my residency. Although i constantly check out my gear in full set up iin my own time making sure everything is still in order and working at a good standard! If i am not happy with the sound or performance of my equipment i will refuse bookings untill i an fully satisfied with it! Whever my stsndard of satisfacation is at the same level as you guys will obviously differ although if some of my gear is i think a bit diffy i will not book my self in a doo and/or get it sorted for my next already booked in!

Ebay dont give a damn, they just take there % and smile....
you would have to report each case at the time it goes online for them to stop it.

Don't worry about it guys & girls. A music collection doesn't make a DJ. Experience, talent, energy, timing, passion, enthusiasm, reliability, honesty and integrity are all much more important and I've yet to find those things listed on eBay....
As for the £85 'DJ', I've said it before and I'll say it again. Don't compete with others on price or equipment. Who wants to be the cheapest DJ in town anyway? I couldn't think of anything worse.

OK, I'll get down now...

Although I do agree,if you are starting from scratch it is very tempting to just go for the complete set.
Human nature I suppose
