Not sure how many of you this will affect - if any. But if you purchase any goods / services over the internet from oversea's companies then from the 1st July, you will be liable to pay the same 17.5% VAT at the checkout, as you would from a UK VAT registered supplier sad.gif

This includes Auction Sites such as E-Bay, Amazon, PayPal & any other Goods / Services Provider such as Webhosting and domain name registration, Either in the U.S, Europe or Worldwide. I also believe that it also applies to Purchases made from "Tax Havens" such as Jersey.

I heard about this on the news, on the run up to Christmas, where they were reporting an ever increasing percentage of on-line shopping, and the death of Duty-Free etc...

Typical "We want our cut" UK government... anything to stop us having a little more cash in our pockets.

This is why I flew over to Boston almost two years ago to collect my (£1200 GBP) CD decks from a "willing to be creative" US dealer...I spent the whole weekend in one airport, plane, departure lounge or another, on a £49 last minute return ticket, and saved almost £450 on the deal.

The sooner this Government has been replaced the better - Although given the current option's I would vote for intelligent Seaweed to run the country smile.gif . Maybe we should Vote "Mikeee" 071.gif (not that i'm comparing him to intelligent Seaweed! smile.gif )

So much for the "Embrace E-Commerce" crap that they came out with about 12 months ago. They've just hammered another nail into its coffin. Along with industry in general rolleyes.gif
