i keep losing sound on one of my jbl speakers it will go completely dead but if you wait 45 minutes then it works again tried new leads ect its had a new driver fitted recently and the connections seem solid.

im not a techie so this might totaly be wrong
are the jbls active or passive
if they are active it could be the built in amp is being overworked and the built in cut out has kicked in
if they are passive it could be your stand alone amp and not the speaker thats at fault.
DJ Marky Marc
i cant see how this would happen on a passive speaker so i am guessing you have active ones...

the amp must be going into protection for some reason... or you have some realy dodgy wiring...

set it all up in the living room and do things like swap speakers arround and then cables on item at a time untill you find the bit of kit causeing your problem...

have fun and let us know whats broken biggrin.gif

its passive speakers and when i swap it for a different speaker the amps fine,
DJ Marky Marc
ok

inside the speaker there is normaly a Cross over for the diferent drivers...

get a an electrical test meter and trace the connections from the back of the cabinet to each driver checking for bad connections etc

also inspect the parts for signs of burning and over heating....

if there are connections that plug in then un plug them and plug them back in again as these could be lose...

when you lose the sound does your amp go into protection ??

this would indercate a short and could mean your have cooked the coil on a driver or blown the crossover...

sadly you will have to spend some time to mess about and find the problem as there is no other way to work it out..

cheers marky marc, if a complete non technical person like myself starts prodding around is it possible to damage the speaker any more than it is or should i just make the 100 mile round trip to the main dj shop for my area...
DJ Marky Marc
Whats your area ????

if your within 100 mile round trip your welcome to pop in my workshop and we can take a look at it together and try and pip point the fault.

if your un shure then take them to your shop, any good shop will let you know what up with them and help you out...
