AJ use the link to DJ supplies aka Chris Pointon who you will see posting everywhere as he started all this. Nobody will give you links to other sites as its against forum rules BUT Chris has some awesome lasers pay a bit more than £300 (not much) and get yourself a green laser from Chris. You'll never look back and you will be over the moon with it.

Yes.................

The 'Green' lasers are very good.
There are 'Red' dual lasers on the market which are cheaper - but you will find the beam is not as intense.

The prices have come down (lower) than original cost.
Do check the laser is DMX compatable - not all, are (apparently!?)

If you are considering the purchase of a Laser then hang fire for a couple of weeks. A supplier of mine is waiting for the first batch of their new lasers to come in. They are exactly the same as the EU / Activecolor ones that I sell at the moment, but with an even better discount smile.gif . Should have more information by the end of the month. If you buy now you may pay over the odds and feel cheated when these better prices kick in. We are talking of around £140 for a dual red (£50 below RRP) and around £330 for a dual combined Red / Green laser.

New stock of the amazing 30mw Green Bazooka Laser are due in soon, and the price will be held on the new stock.

Remember these improved prices will only be offered to forum members, they will still be the same on the website smile.gif (I have to make money somewhere!).

The starcloth idea has not been forgotten either. My supplier is currently designing these as we speak. Another novel idea, is a mini star cloth made of acoustically transparent material which will clip onto each speaker, and have a built in starcloth effect. It could also be overprinted with your name / contact details.

Many new idea's are in work from several suppliers, they just take a little time to move from the drawing board and into production, especially where delivery from the Far East is concerned - Container ships don't move that fast!.

LOL - Some people want the moon on a stick nono.gif

The retail price of the Cosmic Shuttle is £499, thats what my competitors are selling it for!. I'm already offering it for £375 if I knock anymore off I'll be giving it away!.

The Bazooka is a better buy. This goes for £399, or £469 for the DMX version. The Bazooka is 30mw output which is far birghter than the 20mw Shuttle, it also does more patterns and effects than the shuttle.

Having said that I will be offering a dual green laser, and an amazing graphics based 100mw Green version which can project your roadshow name etc - all at very competitive prices!.

To be honest AJ, as you are somebody new to the business, I still think that your money would be better spent on advertising and promoting your business, as I advised you on MSN. What is the point of spending £300 - £400 and mega effects, if you have very few bookings then what is the point of buying the latest "toys". Better to spend the money on getting your name around, and getting future work, and THEN spending money on the latest effects.

A Disco is like any small business, ideally your income should be more than your outgoing expenses - otherwise its pointless being in business in the first place!. Okay you have the initial outlay for the equipment to start up, but the gear that you already have is perfectly adequate for functions, in fact you have better gear than some people that I know locally who have been in business for 20 years!.

You don't need the latest Gadgets to compete, if people don't know your roadshow exist's in the first place, then why would buying a laser make any difference?. You should be thinking and working towards new idea's of promoting your business, then when you have 1 / 2 bookings a week or more for the next few months, only then start spending money on gear smile.gif

Ideally this budget of yours, should be spent on increasing your music database, Promoting your business - Advertising in the local paper for example. Getting business cards printed, Getting insurance and PLI sorted, maybe even joining the TVDJA. All of these come before buying new equipment.

Chris,
I know sod-all about lazers, cos as mentioned b4 I've never really been into lights, and when I was in clubs there was a lighting jockey to do that stuff.

You mentioned that some of the lazers should only be used in large venues, what is the reason for that?

What is the smallest size venue that a lazer could be used?

Some of them are 10mw, others 100mw, does this simply mean that the 100mw is brighter?

How easy is it to put your logo onto this unit?

I seem to remember that years ago lazers had problems with cooling down or something like that. What are they like these days?

Is it simply a matter of buying them and then sticking them on your T-Bar or do you need any other accessories to use with them?

What advantage does using a DMX controller with them have?

1 more question:
Are any of them effective if you're NOT using a smoke machine?

Now you are just being silly. I think you'd better look elsewhere and get a more realistic idea of how much Sound & Lighting equipment actually costs.

Eskie,

I thought myself and Malcolm had made the situation quite clear on the pinned topics and earlier posts. I am not taking calls, answering emails (unless warranty issues) or engaging in any trading activity until at least the 9th, maybe longer, IF I decide to continue running the business at all.

I answered, AJ's post, since rumours of selling lasers which retail at £499 each for £300 often result in a filled inbox and hence more hassle for me. Don't forget this forum generates a lot of traffic and can be viewed by guests as well as members. If people see a hint of this product on sale for such a stupid price, my phone will be ringing 24/7 and I'm back where I started.

I'm not taking A.J seriously, he's already posted similar topics in 3 other sections and he's currently treading a very fine line. For somebody who states that he has been in business for 6 years, some of his questions are a little strange to say the least.

I know of several other people on this forum who use these lasers, and in fact it would be a more unbiased opinion if they shared their experience of this product with you.

Rather than me giving you an answer (my opinion) to EVERY "What is this piece of equipment like thread", I think it only fair that some members share their own thoughts and opinions for a while. That is after all, the purpose of the forum.

Eskie, I have a lazer that i use occassionaly, and they do work better with smoke

but you know me, i'm into the techie stuff so i switch it on & off as I need it.
