What is your fav function to dj for!! I was just wondering. mine would have to probs as they like a wide range of music they are all of a similar age range. And they will normally dance from the start till the end without the help of drink. biggrin.gif

Early days yet in this poll but I notice that no-one has picked weddings. This is probably the majority of work for a lot of us too. May-be it should have been tied in with 'Wakes'. I sometimes feel that the two go together laugh.gif

Weddings are much more fraught than anything else, so much 'could' go wrong (and frequently does) great satisfaction of course but definitely living on nerves stuff.

No lad's; the best venue to dj at is a ......

I was resident at one for a while, I've never had so many offers of help to carry my CD's to the club in my life from mates, neighbours, the milkman, tramps etc tongue.gif

This may strange but it did get boring after a while. The punters couldn't give a to$$ what you played! When one of the girls was dancing in front of them you could have set off a nuclear bomb next to them and they wouldn't have noticed wacko.gif So most of the time I was just playing music for myself or for the girls who i got to know really well, as after they'd finish dancing they'd always stroll into the dj booth to get dressed and chat with me. So ended up getting quite nonchalant about the whole thing!
Mind you, those 2 Russian blond twins... 221.gif censored.gif

In the words of Robert Palmer:-

SOME GUYS HAVE ALL THE LUCK biggrin.gif

The closest I ever come to that, is doing the aforementioned "Dare as you bare" competition during my set at the Club!. Even that puts my therapy back 6 months blink.gif

I chose Christmas Parties...

I just love the way that I can set the gear up in the last week of November, and it stays up right the way through to Jan 2nd...used every night except Sunday...

Makes up for all those poxy, sorry, lovely weddings where the timings overrun during the day, and so instead of them letting you in the room to set up at 5pm like they promised, they let you in at 6:45 and STILL expect you to be giving Music, lights and be changed outta the "Setting up scruffs" into your Bow tie, by the original 7pm start time...

And why is it (also at weddings) that 3 or 4 people ALWAYS choose to stand right in the way of the only fire exit to the hall. The same fire exit that they watched you prop open with one of the spare wedges of wedding cake about 20 trips ago...and still dont take the hint, even when you've been saying "Excuse me please", (in slowly ascending pitch) EVERY time you've had to brush past them bringing more gear in...

Weddings? I luv em...(once Im set up)...

Birthdays? anything OVER 20 is fine... as is under 16...but theres too much trouble (normally alcohol based) and not enough dancing/sensible requests at the 16~19 birthdays...everyones tooo coool to dance. right?

Dynamite Discos
I love doing proms because everyones always really up for a party - all of them dressed up, p***d up and ready to party!

Having said that, my favourite all year round function would have to be 18ths / 21 sts as i am 18 myself and just find it really easy to make an 18th go with a bang without any effort. Lots of eligable ladies there too! (althought wouldnt ever do that while working - highly unprofessional).

Christmas parties are also usually easy - mostly travel up to the wast end for christmas time - dunno what ill do this year as ive jsut moved down o surrey. trouble with christmas parties is that by the time new year comes im so sick of djing 3 times a week and all the same cheesy music that i dont enjoy the parties so much.
The Spindoctor
LOL 'ONLY' three times a week??? Are you on holiday?? Run up to Christmas if there were 14 days in a week I could fill them........... not that I would want to. Mind you family all agree I'm a bit of a Scrooge cos all I want to do is sit indoors with a large glass of something by New Year!!
