Full Version: dangerous habit.

I have been to a couple of parties recently and I have noticed a trend that is a bit disturbing.
Both DJ's had placed a lighting effect on top of the speakers that were on stands. They were laying on foam but not secured. If somebody knocked into the stand the lights would quite easily fall and the consequences dont bear thinking about.Especially if you have not got PLI.

I saw the Topic and thought that it was a post to get Paula to give up smoking nono.gif - ooops there goes a pig cruising at 35,000 feet tongue.gif .

Yes, there is a new breed of careless D.J's around at the moment, those who just think that you just throw your gear into a venue, and just plug it in, wherever it lands. You can't even put it down to lack of knowledge or training, something like that should be common sense.

Unfortunately even with good PLI cover, you can't put a price on stupidity

Gary
Dangerous indeed...and I guess that neither of us means for the lighting effect....

Having said that...the lighting effect will be suffering enough in its "cheap'n'high up" location anyway... The foam might be helping prevent some of the vibrations from the speakers reaching the bulb of the lighting effect, but not all. And who knows, maybe the lighting effect had air vents on the bottom, where the foam is now blocking.

A bad idea all round.

Whats a nice girl like Paula doing hanging around in Chatrooms anyway blink.gif

At least we don't suffer from the tired old "A/S/L" (Age / Sex / location) which bombard you when your enter the IRC rooms!

Although Paula could always reply:- 62 / Female / Mikeee Moore retirement home for confused D.J's 221.gif

I did have a complaint last night that the chat was empty and why didn't I put it on an open IRC channel?. Problem with that idea is that we would get 100's of members, but non of them would be D.J's!!!. By keeping it off IRC, it keeps down the troublemakers and stops them using it to swap porn, mp3's, Software etc

Hopefully, the new dedicated forum area will keep everybody informed of the next chat date, and we'll have a few more people in there.
