what do you all think about smoking and drinking on the dance floor

when i was res in a nice hotel in liverpool we had a no smoking or drinking policy there while on the dance floor

dont know how many people i've seen get their clothes burnt by a drunk with a cig
or how many people slipping on spilt drink on dance floors oops.gif censored.gif

do you think smoking n drinking should be banned on the dance floor

i look forward to your views on this subject

yep should be banned. how many times have you seen some prat fall and spill there drink. lost a light screen that way once.

back in the old days when you had to wear a shirt and tie in a nightclub they used to be strict with the no drinks. however in this day i can see the problems of drinks being spiked if there left alone.

Yep totally agree back in the days when I was a redcoat biggrin.gif there was a strict no smoking or drinking policy on the dance floor, nono.gif but when I went out on the road I found myself nearly telling people over the mic, but soon Realised I wasnt on the holiday parks no longer unsure.gif

I totally agree with what you say, and both smoking and drinking should be restricted to suitable areas. However reality is that unless you work for one of the venues with such rules policing it is a virtual impossibility.
dj-darlo
At the venue I regularly DJ at they do have a no smoking policy on the dance floor, unfortunately nobody pays any attention.

In an ideal world, yeah it'd be great to have none of the punters smoking/drinking on the dancefloor but how on earth do you enforce it?
If you tell people on the mic a good percentage are gonna completely ignore it, and others won't even even hear it, plus there's the situation of the people who weren't yet in the venue when you mentioned it earlier, but if you keep repeating it throughout the night you'll bore/annoy some punters.
It's just another of those things that you have to put up with... like middle-aged women asking for Abba wacko.gif

As Chris knows I have been having problems with my amplifier , and have now found it has been caused by some person unknown, leaning over the front of the disco with a drink in hand then spilling some close to the back of of the amplifier ,

which the cooling fan has then sucked the said drink inside the amp case causing all kinds of problems.

Kinda lucky it never went bang at the time ! , but the problem never showed itself untill the next weeks booking sad.gif

if you see a punter heading to you with a drink in hand be warned thumbdown.gif pepsi.gif
