I AM LOOKING TO PURCHASE SOME NEW LASER LIGHTS FOR MY SHOW. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST FOR THE BEST PRICE? DO YOU KNOW OF ANY NAME BRANDS THAT YOU HAVE SEEN THAT ARE GOOD?
Chrispy
I'm not sure about this, but I think the laws in the U.S differ slightly to those in the UK regarding the use of Lasers for non installation use. I think that for non fixed installation use the limit is set at 5mw of Laser Power ?, Like I say I'm not 100% certain of this, A local equipment dealer will probably be able to give you more information.

I am only aware of one manufacturer who offers lasers in the U.S and that is Chauvet. Maybe one of our other U.S members may be able to email you details of a distributor who carries a wider range.

chris I know that you are not really answering questions, but if you do have some time i was wondering about shipping equipment overseas (to nz) Im not sure of the ins and outs of it though.
If I Paid you for instance by credit card for some lighting, you would have to pay VAT even though it was being shipped overseas??.
Just thinking about it at the moment (Power here = 240v, is it same there?)
Chrispy
Hiya, I'm not yet required to be VAT Registered, I fall just under the threshold, which is one of the reason's why I don't export. Since there is no option of deducting the VAT for oversea's customers since I don't collect / charge it in the first place!.

The second reason, is that the cost of exporting would be prohibitive, it would possibly cost you the same as the effect in freight charges.

It's also worth bearing in mind that any warranty offered by Manufacturers is based on a RTB (Return to base) policy which means that the expense of returning the item to the supplier / manufacturer has to be paid by the customer. Worth considering if you buy anything from abroad and something goes wrong! wacko.gif

Beside's I thought that Aus / NZ was pretty much well set up for Audio / Lighting Equipment?. What are you looking for that you can't get locally??.

If you did buy from the UK - Our mains voltage is the same (230 - 240V / 50hz) but you would need to change the mains plug to suit your local system. Other than that it would work fine.

Hey Thanks for taking the time to reply!
we can get the gear easily, but the prices are rediculus. major brands like martin, jbl, mackie, yamaha are still quite alot more, but on the equipment that is impoerted in small numbers, ie smaller brands are really expspensive, i guess it is because we have the same range of products, impoerted in smaller quantities due to the fact that there are less people in nz than there are in london!.
ps this site is really good because you ahem..."Vetrans" have so much knowledge. keep up the work biggrin.gif
