Well at the moment I use tbars for the majority of my shows as I find it the most easiest way.

I like to spread my tbars out and similarly with my speakers. Now I was wondering about a cloth at the front between the tbars as I now have an empty space.

I have a 2ft deckstand which everything goes on now and I put a velvet cloth round this to cover all the leads, no tables except maybe on for a box or two behind me.

Is it worth trying to have a cloth covering all the front bit I.E the gap between my tbar? If so how would I go about it, maybe a frame/booth of some sort but it would be pretty big?

I don't think trying to squish all close to my deckstand is good for obvious reasons? Maybe I should not with any cloth at all?

I'm just looking to get the views of you guys so I can weigh up my options if I have any!

P.S Sorry about my waffle I hope you get the point of what I'm trying to ask!

I recommend NOT suspending anything thats "grab-able" inbetween the two T-bars and tripods. One hap-less punter hokey-cokeying/New york-new yorking their way into the cloth bridging the two and he/she could pull both tripods over - bad for the equipment, worse for you, him/her, and the 40+ people withing range of two toppling Tri-pods scared.gif

A freestanding solution would be better - that way if someone topples into your cloth, your cloth goes down, but nothing else.

I was backing a couple of magicians the other week - they had a kids foldaway goal frame with their own choice of shiny cloth attached to it. Looked OK.

Alternatively, attach a bar/wooden pole etc to your deckstand to hnage the cloth from - however, only attach the bar/pole to the deck stand using something "breakaway" eg: Velco that way if mr Punter grabs your cloth on his way down to dancefloor oblivion, the cloth leaves your deckstand standing...

Gary makes a valid point. I have my star cloth secured by velcro and during the last 6 months it has been pulled down 3 times by punters the worse for wear who, on their way down, are looking to grab anything that will save them from the hard floor. On each occasion the cloth has came away allowing the person to continue on their way and we simply re-secure it once they've regained their posture. Luckily the cloth wasn't damaged biggrin.gif

Tricky I have the 2ft stand and a similar setup to yours except I use just one T bar.

I feel that putting a cloth right across between the 2 T bars/speaker stands would make you feel more isolated from the audience instead of trying the get rid of the barrier.

When I am gigging on a floor punters can walk through the front of my rig safely and taslk to me instead of having the go round the back and trip over wires and boxes etc.

also I think it would look a bit naff. I would just jave a cloth around the stand on velcro. like this

I have a similar sort of thging to Daniel, I use a 4 foot wide black painted board with wings on the side, folds flat and covers everything. It is free standing and looks smart.

I used to have one sign written too, but thats now in semi-retirement awaiting a freshen up.

My Starcloth is attached by velcro across the bottom part of my Ultimax Stand, with gear also sitting on the point where cloth meets velcro smile.gif . I haven't yet had a punter pull it down, but then they would have to be a midget...Oops, sorry, I mean a vertically challenged person wacko.gif .

I have had a few inquisitive toddlers push the cloth inwards, but fortunately since the cloth is free hanging and not attached at the bottom, it just gives as they push it.

Ye Dan/Chris thats what I do at the moment just have a cloth round the deckstand attached with hook and loop velcro. WIll keep it like that for the mo....I might make a starcloth with some net lights lol!

I've seen a three-panled perspex (cream) cover with disco light behind! Looked quite good (for the audience). smile.gif

Remember - whatever you use, as long as it does the job, isn't cumbersome and difficult to transport and above all - you're satisfied.....you'll be happy! thumbup.gif
Light screens are all sorts of shapes and sizes - even silver 'stucco' (like used to panel a flight-case) can be put on a board to your stand dimensions and trimmed and cornered! smile.gif

BTW - last time I visited that superstore that did garden and DIY gear......an indoor 'net' light with multiple patten effects was £20. Quite a lot of netting for a stand your size but cost effective!!!! rolleyes.gif

We use a black cloth attached to the stand by Velcro, but after Friday night we are looking for something a little more substantial.
Someone must have fallen in front of the stand & put their hand out against the stand to save themselves, the first we knew was when an Amp & lighting controller that was on the lower rails shot out landing on our feet. So now we are looking at adding some boards behind the cloth so no one can push the Amps of the stand by pushing through the cloth.

I put a black sheet up, and use a little masking tape to hold it to the top of my Deck flightcase, i find this quite easy and quick to do. I use the tables provided when doing discos. And have never had any troubles before with amps being pushed over. As my amps on on the top of the table or flat on the floor.
