Has anyone advice for a mixed culture wedding? I've done many traditional weddings in the past but I've been asked to do an English/Indian wedding. There is a traditional Indian singer going on before me.

If its anything like some i've done, be prepared for two buffets, English and Indian, you may well get asked to play some of their own CD's, but thats not a problem either, all the weddings I have done of this nature if you tell them in advance you're not sure what to play they will get one of the young guys to say this track is good , this fits well next etc. They tend to be charming affairs, very polite and more than helpful! Then later in the evening its much the same as any English wedding just party on they will dance to anything.

My advice would be, be upfront with them and honest and they will help you to make it a sucess.

Let us know how it goes!

I've done a wedding like that before, the bride was mexican and the groom was turkish:

However they just wanted normal chart, pop stuff played with a few of their own cds to keep the mum and dads happy. I had them up all night quite literaly, everything I played all of them got up and was shouting, singing along-absolutaly mad (wish every party was like that wub.gif ) They also had masses of food and they were all very friendly.

My advice (oh no I sound like spin fear.gif ) is to ask if they want their own music played or get them to give you some sort of idea to what they want-but they may just want a normal english wedding.

I'm actually doing a jewish wedding this Sunday and the groom has been very helpful with the music selection.

Ditto Ditto Ditto.

If you are given any current Indian Dance / Club music - mix it up large with the UK/Euro dance music!!!!

In fact - you may not understand the lyrics - but the choons are good!!!
