I agree I had one at one time but it was too complex for my brain so I sold it to one of my bands who are still trying to sort it out. laugh.gif

Ummm. I would say that if your getting feed back, the system is either running far to loud and / or the compensation is not set up correctly. Or, at the risk of insulting someone, lots of expensive kit and a cheap mic!!!!!!!!

The going rate????? Mikee's almost in the superstar price band what with PLASA and the like Heh heh heh notworthy.gif

Going rate, cheeky bugger.
Spin, I suppose you'll want my autograph next.

Almost time to revise my rates - From Sept 1st, prices will prob start at £395.00 for upto 4 hours. And before everyone jumps on me (except Kazz & Paula).

An interesting analagy (sp) If you buy a car in Glasgow, Brighton, Bristol, Manchester etc - same car, same mileage, same condition, it will be (within a couple of quid) be the same price. So why do disco's vary so much. There is no reason for it, other than lack of confidence.

Just watch that VAt thresh hold laugh.gif

S'ok Peteee Mikeee still thinks VAT is a brand of scotch!

Mikeee has a point, If you take the average wedding for example the cost of the thing is £1,000s. The disco accounts for about a third of the day and costs a small percentage of the whole event, yet there are still people out there who will do it for buttons - why??? wacko.gif
Peteee
Alot of people pay more for their cake than they do a disco
(Ok so it is a really big cake at Mikeees gig)
Entertainment is well down the list of things to do laugh.gif
Most brides are too busy with cars cakes dresses under wear footwear table settings photos makeup lip stick (bit like Paula really fish.gif He he he)

Believe it or not, the Disco is usually the last consideration on the Wedding "To Do" list, and if you happen to be on with a band - you are simply treated like 2nd Class citizens mad.gif

Usually the Wedding Budget has been blown on Cake, Church, Dress, Formal Hire, Honeymoon etc etc, long before they realise that they need some entertainment - even the bloody balloons are often considered before the D.J!.

I'm going to run an experiment, only a short one because I don't want to jeopordise my own business. The next three "enquiries" that I get will all be quoted £220 - provided that they haven't come from a previous gig. £220 is around £100 more than the going rate, for this area.

I do have a good reputation, Excellent Sound & Light / Laser show, References and 15 years in the business, so it should be a good trial run for Mikeee's point. If it doesn't come off then Mikeee owes me a pint at the Plasa, if it does then i'm on my way to a fortune, and it may give you the incentive to follow smile.gif

I still think that the only winner out of price increases is the Revenue, I believe that charging £395 for a gig is going to reap about £90.85 for the Taxman!, and yeah watch for that VAT threshold.

Anyway, back to the original topic. You shouldn't need to consider a Feedback Limiter for a Disco, or even Karaoke. A good Sound system & Good Quality Mic, and 20 minutes setting up the EQ should remove the need for any electronic intervention.
